From where I was sitting, it looked as though the Pies fans turned up, AFL members was practically full, as was the MCC, just looked like general admission didn't go last night.

St Kilda/Melbourne was the only Semi Final based in Melbourne?

Melbourne/Adelaide drew 61,000 to a Qualifying Final back in 1998, the same clubs met in 2002 and only drew 51,000 (being the only final based in Melbourne)

Pehaps the increased level of pricing has driven away the neutrals that used to attend matches, 30-40 years ago the MCG final used to regularly attract 90-100,000.

The other conclusion could be that because of th increased exposure of games and the growing number of 80,000+ drawing home and away games (3 this season) perhaps the 'big game' experience of a final has deminished for some theatre goers?

Finals attendances are really nothing to brag or bag about to be honest because they really fluctuate and even the smallest clubs draw massive crowds to finals at the G.

Have a look at North Melbourne in '97, how do you draw the same crowd against West Coast and a decent drawing side like Geelong?

Try following a Perth side and paying $3,500 to get to a final, pay for an hotel and get your tickets.

Vic fans may be becoming like Sydney people - theatregoers - not enough passion - soft.
