Whatever the makeup of my team going into round 1.....I'll be going cheap on the rucks. Goldstein I think will sharing the load with Currie next year and I don't think Minson will back up his 2013. Happy to gamble on Sandilands and another cheap ruck option. Will also try to find a balance of dual positions players as well.

looks good all round!
taking punts on swallow and sandilands could definately pay off, although i dont think you can expect sandi to get back to his very best because he is just at that age that the talls start declining, will obviously go up in price though if he stays fit!
not sold on hanley was tagged out of games when he started coping a tag later in the year.
but solid team overall!

Wouldn't mind the fan planner being updated for us tight arse's.

fasolo will be on field and i will replace menzel as he wont be fit till late in the season,
but otherwise this is my first build!
thoughts?

Not bad, I wouldn't be starting with Minson or Honeychurch though. Use that money to upgrade Aish/Michie to a premo.

Will work on the screenshot things later. In the mean time:

Backs: Mcveigh, Shaw, Hodge, Suckling, Hanley, Mcdonald, Fuller, Tippett (Joel)
Mids: Pendles, Selwood, Rockliff, Beams, Prestia, Martin, Crouch, Garlett, Taylor, O'rourke
Rucks: Lobbe, Sandi, Brown, Thurlow
Fwds: Dangerfield, Martin, Dixon, Fasolo, Bock, Kersten, Mcbean, Honeychurch

Prestia primed for a massive year IMO. He's learnt from the best. Ablett will cop Crowley in round 2 and may spend more time forward with the likes of Martin coming through.

Shhhh......

This is what I'm looking at right now, pretty stock standard I'd say.

Def: McVeigh, Mitchell, Waters, Suckling, L. MacDonald, Fuller (Battersby, Aylett)
Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, J. Selwood, Rockliff, Beams, D. Thomas, Martin, Tyson (Michie, Dunstan)
Ruck: NicNat, Sandilands (Nankervis, Currie)
Fwd: Dangerfield, Martin, Franklin, Clark, Higgins, Fasolo (Kersten, Honeychurch)

If Prestia wasn't just a mid he'd be locked in every team, can't fit him in the midfield though.

"The Death of the Guns & Rookies Strategy"

I respectfully disagree, still plenty of lowish 100k options - Gartlett, Kersten, Dunstan, MCrouch, Dumont, 'the other Kolodjashinj' etc

Author seems to just favour the higher draft 2013 picks which come with the 200k price tag - effectively costing almost 2x standard rookie,

Plus, as KardiniaPark has noted, low costing mature rookies will show themselves early in 2014 with preseason & NAB cup games,

"Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated", ;)

Fuller, Giles, Lewis Taylor, O'Rourke is 123k FFS and he was the #2 pick last year. etc etc Bargain basement rookie priced gold all over the place.

Also you have to take anything Mad Mick writes about with a grain of salt. He has Higgins in his team's first draft FFS. :rainbow:

Solid,

I know this was the trap last year, but wait & see on Zorko's preseason form,

not sure on either Thompson or Caddy, though,

Can you downgrade Caddy to Markworth and upgrade Thompson to a premo defender?

FWIW

Ok, I've frustrated myself enough.
Can anyone tell me how to copy your 2014 team from SC into BF?

Thanks Gingy I have one already and have copied the image into Word then cropped it to size.
Not sure why I can't then copy that image and paste it in BF. Tried it in pdf too but no joy.

That's your problem right there. Copy it into Paint instead then crop and save as a .jpg then upload to BF.

why is DEF the priority in 2014?

Who will average more? Bartel or Dayne Beams.......Sam Mitchell or Marc Murphy?

Here's my initial team, with one eye on the byes and one eye on DPPs.
Should be making some changes in the future but at the moment, here it is:

DEF: Walker/Mitchell/Hanley/Docherty/Kolodjashnij/Laidler (Cutler/Fuller)
MID: Gazza/Pendles/Jelwood/Barlow/Murphy/McDonald/Michie/Dunstan (O'Rourke/Garlett)
RUC: Dixon/Sandi (Lobb/Brown)
FWD: Danger/Dusty/Roughy/Karnezis/Billings/Apeness (Taylor/Honeychurch)

$101,800 left
