First attempt using the legit prices:

RUC:

Nic Naitanui $518,800
Brodie Grundy $363,300

Rory Lobb $117,300
Toby Nankervis $117,300

FWD:

Pat Dangerfield $609,000 (MID)
Drew Petrie $554,300
Dustin Martin $549,200 (MID)
Mitch Clark $249,200

Shane Kersten $123,900

Dayle Garlett $117,300 (MID)
Jarman Impey $117,300

Remaining: $159400

Thoughts? DEF seems to be the priority in '14. Midfield is the main one I'm unsure of.

Get Petrie out of there, priced far too high, and pick up another forward. I'd also be wary of starting with O'Rourke as your M8, not sure how much of a go he'll get and how he'll score. Otherwise it doesn't look too bad :thumbsu:

5 KPF out of 8 positions,

SC is a midfielder/utilities game for scoring (particularly consistently),

need more mid/fwd players down there IMO,

Having a little bit of trouble choosing out of Billings and Boyd, also Langdon and Fuller. Would anybody be able to help? Thanks.

Errr. Who cares right now, it's just mucking around. Can't decide on rookies until you've at least seen them perform in the NAB Cup. Just worry more about your structures right now rather than the players filling the structure.

Love your team mate. Don't think that JTippett will be much of a scorer though. 35-40 average tops. Not even good enough for D8. Better options will more than likely present themselves...

Pavlova? > DBeams (via Martin DPP)?

Ruff? > Wingard?

Pavs a bargain I reckon. Wouldn't be getting rid of him out of his forward line at the price he is.

Agree though about ditching Roughead and Hogan.

You can get away with having a couple of key forwards like Spuddy and Pav as they go up the ground and cover alot of ground too hence more possessions which = more SC points. :rainbow:

Just a basic idea; I like this ruck strategy, when considering cash generation & fickleness of rucks
obviously there's a few players that I've selected which will be scrutinised in the preseason.
100k & some wiggle room with rookie prices may allow for another premo forward, or upgrade Shiel

I'd upgrade Hogan or Billings to a premo forward ASAP!

I like the Swallow selection. I like it a lot actually, I'm going to have a hard look at him now! As said above, upgrade Hogan or Billings, maybe downgrade Shaw to a cheaper defender so you can get a better forward?

Give ya the red hot tip he could be replaced by an inanimate carbon rod, he's a place holder. :D

Not many Port players being picked... Expect huge things this year from Boak, Ebert, Wingard and Cornes.

Cornes is absolutely dominating on the track at the moment, fittest he has ever been and actually looks to have put on slightly a bit more size. Robbie Gray is another one... He is in amazing shape and I expect big things this year from him. He didn't have a proper pre season last year due to his Knee recon, will be a good pickup for a decent price.

Haha gotta love te pre-season. If I has a dollar for every time I've read that player X is dominating on the training track.

Kane has dominated on the track for at least the last decade; winning most (prob all) running trials. The difference between reports of Kane killing it on the track and the plethora of other plays is that Kane's a 2-time all Australian and 4-time club B&F
(that may sound abit narky, but I wrote it in a spirit of goodwill)

Moving back towards Port players;
The trouble with many port players is their prices, for roughly the same price in the midfield;
K. Cornes v. JP Kennedy, Boyd, Mundy, Deledio,

B. Ebert v. Prestia, Dal Santo, Bennell, Wells, Murphy, Beams

I think the best Port picks are in the forwards; Wingard, Hoff, Gray, Monfries may all suit a structure and have plenty of upside

Agreed, the point I was trying to make is don't be scared of him getting a little older. He is still in great shape.

Agreed about Kane, was just trying to get the point across that he is not getting any slower with age, if not better.

I would take Kane over all 4 of those you listed, JPK the exception maybe... but he had a very frustrating year last year. So up and down.

Again I would take Ebert over all of those for sure, except Beams but we all know why he is so cheap. He is not in the same calibre of players, injury affected average brought him down.

Agreed on the forwards, Wingard, Gray are almost locks for me. Lobbe in the ruck is also an option.
