My turn my turn!

Defenders: McVeigh, Mitchell, Simpson, Swallow, Suckling, Mcdonald, (Langdon, Georgiou)

Mids: Ablett, Pendlebury, Griffin, Beams, Caddy, Tyson, Polec, Ellis, (Crouch, Dunstan)

Rucks: Grundy, Sandilands, (Thurlow, King)

Forwards: Dangerfield, Martin, Parker, Zorko, Higgins, Impey, (Kersten, Kennedy-harris)

Bam. You're looking at a winning formula right there. Feel free not to take notes.

Quite confident hey?!? haha

No way would I have Caddy as a MID even though it offers more flexibility to your squad, far better options moving Caddy forward then buying a Murphy or someone in your MIDS instead of a Parker or Zorko. Griffen far too bigger gamble, no Pre-Season to speak of and injury clouds says don't touch to me but more power to ya! Don't think Grundy will pull the big numbers either but see what happens. Rest of it looks reasonable.

Dark Sharks can't argue with that side, it's very solid

except... your rucks... Everyone will be frantically trading to upgrade Grundy after the first few games

agree Zorko > Caddy
Caddy > someone else

I know we have butted heads toxic , timtamWB , Judd_Magic but here it is

CJ_Time

Backs: Jarad McVeigh, Sam Mitchell, Kade Simpson, Grant Birchall, Luke McDonald, Tom Clurey (Tom Cutler, Tom Langdon)

Midfield: Gary Ablett, Jobe Watson, Kieran Jack, Trent Cotchin, Dayne Beams, James Aish, Jarad Polec, Xavier Ellis (Luke Dunstan, Nick Robertson)

Rucks: Paddy Ryder, Aaron Sandilands (Daniel Currie, Fraser Thurlow)

Forwards: Patrick Dangerfield, Jarryd Roughead, Charlie Dixon, Josh Caddy, Lincoln McCarthy, Jay Kennedy - Harris (Zach Merret, Jarman Impey)

**** NOTE: All rookies subject to change subject to round 1 selection ****

Solid!!!

Birchall seems to be a far less attractive option to buyers this year, the tags really shook his game up last year at times and seems to have scared a few away, can go huge though!

Jack is a different look for the MIDS, like that, don't think you can go too far wrong with the guys in that price bracket to be honest. Cotchin can score quality but I would be careful of his niggle, could mean playing more forward which means decreased scoring generally.

Also think having Dixon as cover is great in theory but not sure at the price he is, whether you might be better off buying a forward rather than a forward who is really cover for your rucks, more value elsewhere for purchasing IMO. Think you are cutting it super fine for your FWDs as well, really a big gamble relying on Kennedy-Harris & McCarthy pushing out reasonable numbers to not hurt your scoring. Think you need to tinker the balance slightly personally but just my opinion. Very solid otherwise.

Solid side :)

Cotch in for Ablett could be a genius stroke but surely the calf issue has you worried about that choice. If Ablett goes nuts (very good chance off what we know he does!) you will be way behind the 8 ball. Reckon Michie & Tyson are safe to be honest, Melbourne need as many types that have a crack and can win the pill as they can get!
Rohan & McDonough both on the bench is a fair chunk of cash to have just sit there, but having said that i get that players actually playing early on is absolute priority, just might be a slight waste.
Personally not a fan of Thompson, just think there are better options at the price but each to their own.

Apart from that I am a fan of this setup. Good stuff! :thumbsu:
Thankyou for your response.
Ablett AND Cotchin have calf issues TBH. Damned if I do, damned if I don't.
Worried about Thompson but unsure who to pick.

Been a while since I posted my team, and since Judd_Magic asked what my midfield structure is in another thread I thought I might as well post my whole team.

McViegh Mitchell Simpson Enright McDonald Laidler
(Langdon, Georgio)

Ablett, Pendles, Libba, Beams, Tyson, Michie, Polec, Ellis
(Dunstan, Crouch)

Luey, Sandilands
(Derickx, Thurlow)

Dangerfield, Martin, Roughead, Pavlich, Higgins, McDonough
(Impy, Kennedy-Harris)

Only 5k left, not very unique either, but I'm happy with it as it fits my plan for the year.

Thoughts? Jiska toxic timtamWB TheOz
Very similar to mine, couple of structural differences (I have no rookies bar McD and mids) but I like it.

Very similar to mine, couple of structural differences (I have no rookies bar McD and mids) but I like it.

Does that mean Higgins or Rohan as F6?

I have Rohan, been burnt by Higgins too many times.

B: J.Bartel, S.Mitchell, P.Hanley, D.Swallow, B.Griffiths, L.McDonald (W.Langford, T.Langdon)
M: G.Ablett, B.Goddard, T.Cotchin, D.Beams, D.Tyson, J.Aish, J.Polec, X.Ellis, (L.Dunstan, M.Crouch)
R: S.Mumford, A.Sandilands (T.Derickx, F.Thurlow)
F: P.Dangerfield, D.Martin, J.Roughead, T.Mitchell, J.Caddy, G.Rohan (J.Kennedy-Harris, S.Lloyd)

Only really see value in rookie mids this year, hence why have taken a punt on some mid priced forwards and defenders.

Haven't seen Goddard's name posted anywhere this year, which considering he was the only other player apart from Ablett that was a dead set lock in every team only two years ago, followed by winning his clubs B&F last year is surprising (correct me if I'm wrong or missing something here?).

Any feedback welcome guys!

This is where I am at at the moment.
First time I have had an opportunity to look at a Supercoach team for this season.
Constructive thoughts?

At this point, I am tossing up between Fyfe and Watson.
Beams is a premium at less than 500, lock for every team.
Not comparable to Fyfe as he's 70k less.

30. Taylor, Lewis

Thoughts?

Is Liba a worry as M3? Also Blease on the bench worries me and is Lewis Taylor going to play?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Taylor's injured I'm pretty sure, put JKH in for him.

That backline gave me a heart attack, the rest of the team is pretty good though. I would downgrade one of Martin/Roughead to someone around Mitchell's price range ie. Gray/Zorko/Buddy/Parker/Gunston there are lots of options, and try to upgrade Griffiths to Swallow.

Yeah I normally prefer to follow a guns & rookies approach too. It would be huge reward if your back and forward rookies can bob up with quality scores will have you sitting pretty, I just have huge doubts that this will happen though. You have a point with the 30 trades you have a chance to correct if you suddenly feel like you need to change it. Might be an idea to try and leave a little bit of cash for wiggle room if you find yourself needing to alter your side early on.

Think this is my final team. Still $16,300 in the bank. Unsure on grimes, thinking of getting suckling and using the money somewhere else?

Bold, very very risky backline, could be mediocre scoring across the board given Hanley's potential issue of taggers, Mitchell rock solid though. Really think you are cutting it too fine having Webster at D3. Blease could find a better consistency and improved scoring potential under Roos, but just wonder if he is a bit on the pricy side for a bench spot? Taylor won't see action for some time yet so he needs to go as well.
MIDs look very good as expected. Nothing wrong with Libba at M3 personally, think he will only improve!

Grimes scoring ability isn't really an issue, he just needs to stay on the park! Not sold that he is capable of getting whole seasons out of his body (for whatever reason!), as for Suckling, his price is way under what he is potentially capable of, however he has never been a huge points scorer in the past so his money making potential may not be as great as some think. Do think he is really good value at this price but he might not set the world on fire. Out of the two I would back Grimes in and hold on for the ride! :D

Thankyou for your response.
Ablett AND Cotchin have calf issues TBH. Damned if I do, damned if I don't.
Worried about Thompson but unsure who to pick.

Yeah that's true this game is full of those decisions. Can see your point of view on Cotchin, just think if there is any sort of question mark over full fitness it puts that seed of doubt into the choice (wasn't aware of an injury to Ablett!  ) I think if Hibberd is fit he is the one at that price out of the bunch, Hodge also looks quality for the price but still unsure of his role in the side leaves big ??? over his scoring potential.

Feeling a bit lost this year, haven't watched any Pre-Season nor can I find all NAB Cup Scores at a glance anywhere?

Hoping someone can share their wisdom at my first attempt:

B: Mitchell, Hanley, Enright, Grimes, McDonald, Langford - Langdon, Georgiou
M: Ablett, Pendles, Selwood, Beams, Aish, Michie, Polec, Ellis - Dunstan, Crouch
R: Mumford, Sandilands - Currie, Derickx
F: Danger, Martin, Zorko, Pavlich, Caddy, Rohan - Kennedy, Impney

Any thoughts?
