Strong midfield when Greenwood can't make the team.

If turns out to be the case, perhaps a poor career move for him?

Hes easily best 22

This posted by a more educated Pies poster is pretty close. I'd have Greenwood starting on the ground and Aish on the bench but thats neither here nor there. I'd also probably have Reid forward, Frost in the 22, and one player not in the side, maybe Maynard Howe or De Goey.

Not a lot of seconds depth this year

Seniors 22:

FB Toovey, Brown, Williams
HB Maynard, Reid, Langdon
C Aish, Adams, Sidebottom
FOL Grundy, Treloar, Pendlebury
HF Swan, Moore, Howe

INT Greenwood, DeGoey, Crisp, Varcoe

Reserves 22:

FB Ramsey, Frost, Sinclair
HB Scharenberg^, Marsh, Goldsack
C Phillips, Sier, Oxley
FOL Witts, McCaffer, Smith*
HF Broomhead, Cox*, Blair
FF Crocker , White, Gault*
INT Wills, Goodyear, Gold*, Wyatt*

I think Plowman an Weitering should be in your starting team.

Also goodluck to Kerridge and Wright :)

You'd think Pies would look to trade him next year then. Can't have a 400k p/a seconds player, especially not for three years.

You'd think so, but this all hypothetical anything can change over a year.

Hypothetically what would be the best 22 if the wada ban happens? Surely wouldn't be too many players unavailable.
Baguley - Hartley - Gwilt
Gleeson - Brown - Ashby
Fantasia - Bird - Z Merrett
J Merrett - McKernan - Goddard
Ambrose - Daniher - Edwards
Leuenberger - Zaharakis - Langford
Laverde - Francis - Parish - McKenna

Still better than Carlton. The forward line doesn't really change, and you'd probably see players like Polkinghorne and Schroder in the midfield as well.

Swans First XI for 2016

B: T Richards - Grundy - Laidler
HB: Rampe - Talia - Smith
C: Hannebery - Kennedy - McVeigh
HF: K Jack - Reid - Cunnigham
F: Sinclair - Franklin - Heeney
Fol: Tippett - Mitchell - Parker
INT: Lloyd - Jones - Rohan - Mills

So our seconds would look like

B: L Melican - A Aliir - N Newman
HB: T Leonardis - X Richards - H Marsh
C: J Hiscox - J Foote - S Murray
HF: B McGlynn - T Nankervis - D Towers
F: J Rose - A Davis - K Galloway
Fol: S Naismith - D Robinson - G Hewitt
INT: B Jack - C O'Riordan - T Papley - J Dawson

Out of the guys in the seconds I can see Richards/Aliir, McGlynn, Nank, Naismith, Towers, Rose, BJack, Robbo and Hewitt getting at least a game in 2016

Defense looks a bit suspect for you guys. Grundy getting older, Richards too. Laidler is serviceable. Talia couldn't crack the dogs team.

Then if Franklin doesn't play the forward line also looks a bit weak if you don't have Tippett in there.

Midfield is still very good, but I think on paper it could be a harder than the past few years to make the top 4.

Grundy is still only 29. Richards is the worry, I reckon his brother or Aliir will need to step up and maybe even play seniors for a game or two.
Franklin will basically roam wherever he likes in 2016, with Reid and Tippett/Sinclair being the stay at home fwds. Also don't dismiss Dean Towers, who played some very good footy at the back end of 2015.
And midfield is improved with Mills added in there, plus no one will really deteriorate from age other than maybe McVeigh, who plays half back/half fwd anyway.

But yeah, our forward depth is the only place where we can feel safe.

I reckon Leonardis will be in your best 22 by the end of next season, he's all class off a back flank and in time could somewhat fill the Malceski void.

I think Plowman an Weitering should be in your starting team.
Rowe and White are competitive and versatile. Mature bodies and determined characters who haven't sulked out the door like Henderson, Yarran, etc. Bolton might take a liking to those who put in the effort for a young list.
It's better to do it now when your in a rebuild mode.
Rebuild mode with Wright, but not two mature talls...

We're not going to chuck Weitering in the deep end for 22 games.

Plowman has had surgery.

You may as well play him , it's not like you can do any worse.... It's not like Rowe and white will be in your future

First:
Wood - Roberts - Morris
M Boyd - Hamling - Murphy
Macrae - Liberatore - Suckling
Dahlhaus - Stringer - Crameri
Dickson - T Boyd - McLean
Roughead - Wallis - Bontempelli

Hunter - Stevens - Johannisen - Picken

Second:
Cordy - Collins - Prudden
Biggs - Adams - Lynch
Hamilton - Webb - Dale
Hrovat - Redpath - Adcock
Honeychurch - Campbell - Daniel
Minson - Dunkley - Jong

Williams - Goetz - R Smith* - C Smith*

*out for the foreseeable future (ACL tears)

A few roles are interchangeable, and obviously injury will grant opportunities to a number of players in the second 22, but I think it'll look something like this, all going well.

Reserve 22

B Litherland, Heatherley, Brand

HB Howe, Spangher, Miles

C Whitecross, Woodward, Webster

HF Sicily, O’Brien, Willsmore

FF Burton, Tatupu, Hardwick

R Fitzpatrick O’Rourke, Lovell

Int Pittonet, L.Langford, Surman, Stewart
Bolded already earmarked by Clarkson for senior games and opportunity in 2016, and you'd think Spangher, Fitzpatrick and Whitecross will be used as more experienced depth also.

Box Hill looking pretty strong again this year, with most of that team available to them each week as well.

Bottom ager who should be given time and a full pre-season. Might come in like Lever, but we'll pick the best team and not gift games to juniors for the future.

White received a two year contract after Bolton was appointed coach. He can play a variety of roles. Won't avoid a contest and fluff his chances like Jones. We don't to "Melbourne" the list and play a team of kids with no senior talent around them.

I like Towers. Has a hot go and seems like an athlete.

Towers improvement in the last 5 or so games of the 2015 season was amazing. He looked like a genuine AFL player in those games, not just an AFL player but a good one as well. If he maintains that form in 2016 then he is definitely in the Swans best 22.
Thought he showed a bit in the clinches of the SF.

Hawks fans do realise Fitzy's not a ruckmans arseh*le? He's a 5 centre square hit outs a game kinda guy.

He's a "good" forward, who I still think could make it as a poor mans David Hale. But if you think he's ever going to make the grade as a stand alone ruckman then you're in for a shoke.

I don't believe I said anything about him being a ruckman, actually.
He's depth at this point, but still, it would pretty foolish to limit him on what he's shown at a club that isn't exactly a beacon for great development.

Ceglar was delisted by the Pies, and look at what Monkhurst did with him, he's now a very solid ruck who really should have a senior flag. Similar to Hale who was running about in the VFL before crossing to Hawthorn and becoming a better player.

You named him as the starting ruckman in your sides 2nd best 22.

Cellar is a VFL footballer, who if he was any good would have teams lining up to sign him. He doesn't. But by all means keep drinking the Kool Aid...
