This is not a discussion it is your opinion on what you think will pan out during Trade Period, who do you think will be the Big Winners & Losers?

or an early second rounder

I reckon you are close. A dream result for us but think you are short changing the Demons. You are a GC second round pick short for the Demons & maybe say an Otten for Demons 3rd round.

Plus you would need Viney to come out before the draft and declare he would go anywhere - just so nobody gets done for draft tampering.

Not shortchanging Melbourne at all. They come out big winners by satisfying Gold Coast enough for them not to nominate Viney. Gold Coast hold the whip hand over Melbourne.

Everyone is a BIG winner under the scenario.

Awesome news. Nobody can get done for draft tampering now. They even put it in the news paper - smart move.

By the way if the deal you propose is the best GC can do after the father and son bidding process have a sneeky suspicion Melbourne might turn to the Pies and get Dawes & possibly Wellingham. Much better deal for them. But can I suggest thats what GC are worried about.

Unless Brisbane can come up with a deal. ie take Moloney as a free agent, let Geelong take Rivers as a free agent. They Melbourne could get a band 1 compensation pick ie pick 4 and trade that to Brisbane for pick 8 and then Brisbane get Tippett.

We dont care as long as we get pick 4.

I wouldn't. F/S nominations are completed prior to trade week. The selection Melbourne is locked in to use for Viney will be known before any trading can commence.

OK, instead of litigating this trade over and over, i'm happy with its simple validity and attractiveness to all parties.

Next few weeks will be interesting.

I don't see how Melbourne can let this unique opportunity to Get Viney in 2nd Round slip. And GC are perfectly positioned to score a win win from the situation as well.

Sounds good to me. Why trade for trades sake. Free agency has been full of spuds. Trade week will have teams pay overs to get certain players who were probably performing at an average level anyway. Trading of depth players for picks is where the value may be

Speaking of elaboration how does Tippett get to the Suns if GC take our compo pick? I'm not confident of this deal going in our favor.

If we do nothing, we have less depth than we had last season.

Melbourne will only do a 1-2 trades and will get some little fish at best. I can't see us landing another Mitch Clark, but possibly a Pederson or Dawes, and maybe an out of favour midfielder from somewhere. Id be happy with one of these to be honest. I hope we get Viney at 3 - id be buying the Richmond microwave cookbook if we didn't.
