Brant Bjork is coming back to Oz. This sparks joy
So I missed out on tickets to the Sunday show. I just happened to pop in for a drink at Shotkickers on the Tuesday after the show and who should walk in - Mario Lalli. To soundcheck. It then dawned on me that they were doing a secret show and I had totally fluked the fact the Brant Bjork trio were playing there that night. So I got to see them afterall, totally by chance.

Best show I've seen Brant do.

Explosions in the Sky at the Astor. Been over a decade since I’d seen them but always fantastic. Just a shame they can only play like ten songs due to the length of the tunes.

Ben Howard at the same place last week. First time seeing him and it was phenomenal. Amazing musician.

Have noticed something since covid. Surprisingly a lot of shows are selling out far more than there used to be. Not sure if it’s Perth or not, but have noticed I almost have to grab tickets asap rather than wait closer to a show like I used to.

I have noticed this as well and it feels like there are way more bands coming here than usual. Someone from work who is into metal told me he has never had so many options to go and see gigs in the last year or so.

Probably an effect of covid and things might get back to how they were pre covid in a few years.

The Angels on their 50 not out tour. Will be a real blast from the past, I saw them many, many times in the 80s/90s. I again saw them supporting Cheap Trick earlier this year and they're still good.

Iron Maiden. I hope their setlist is better than they've been doing in recent shows. No "Number of the Beast"???

Kim Wilde. More 80s nostalgia.

Cold Chisel on their 50th anniversary tour. Another blast from the past.

I'm also thinking of going to see Sweet. I was all set until I realised that 3 of them are dead and it's basically the guitarist and some no-names.

Deniz Tek is doing an instore appearance at Sonic Rendezvous Music in Thornbury on Saturday. I'm doing both nights for Birdman and sneaking out to see the Ghost movie as well.

Nice.

I’ve met Deniz many times over the years, won’t be making the in store.

Rob who owns the store is a great guy.

Just hope Birdman is on on Friday night - when they’re on they’re one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen but they can be below their best occasionally.

Radio Birdman were in cracking form last night. Guitar sounds tight as a duck's bum - Rob Younger in scintillating form and great sound - I recommend you try to catch them if you can.

Definitely a fitting send off.

Viagra Boys tour announced today for November.

I’m extremely bummed I’ll miss it as I’ll be away on a planned holiday.

They’re #1 on my list of bands I haven’t seen before that I want to see.
