You're one of the countless clubs in need of a big KPF

This shouldn't even be a poll with Patton involved. The other two you can toss up between, but anything other than Patton is flat out wrong.

Wow, that went over your head.
You honestly think Darcy Moore, or even Daniher, are the same types of forwards as those mentioned or Hawkins?

Do you think Boyd is the same type of forward?

He is the exact same type of forward. He just has that extra string to his bow in being able to ruck too.

You'd know your mob better than I would, but you're not gonna tell me that Boyd is a more natural ruckman than a power forward.

He's a ruckman/forward while the others are strictly key forwards

I reckon his best position and what he'll be remembered for when he retires is a power forward.

As mentioned, it's actually an extra string to his bow that he can ruck. I just don't think he'll carve a career out of that position.

Could be wrong though.

We dont use Patton in the ruck much becuase we dont have to. Mummy, Rory and more recently Dawson do that for us. In a different list he may well ne developed more a ruck option. Not sure i'd like the idea though.

You said it, you don't need to.

In an ideal world for the Doggies, they've got a premier ruckman with a good back up and Boyd is plucking everything inside 50 while Cloke is leading up the ground and bombing them in to him.

Think the value of a big lump is still there, coaches are just too resistant to leaving someone deep.

Shown in recent weeks it has its place but McCartin and Boyd really haven't been given the chance to play the role they excelled at in juniors.
Leaving someone deep killed Hawthorn twice this year - Geelong and Richmond. I agree that it can still be done and be effective
