Autopsy Crows hammer Saints by 63 in round 1

The defence and attack was the biggest issue today. Mids look like we should be okay.
The front half was easily the biggest issue.

They couldn’t even halve contests when we were trying to exit the defensive half which meant our defence was scrambled and the opposition were turning the footy over in their front half.

We couldn’t win the territory battle at all.
If our forwards hold their own, we can set up defensively and control transition. Unfortunately, we couldn’t put a competitive forwards group on the park

In general, and this references many different comments, the fact that so many see us as being outmatched by a team who finished below us is a concern.
They had four big changes and had a full list to choose from. Where they finished last year is totally irrelevant.

Thought Higgins was good.

I only saw the first half and he looked pretty well held and seemed to be very messy. I couldn't believe how bad our skills were overall. They Crows stuck every mark, we fumbled everything we touched and turned-over most of our kicks.

Now you're just being disingenuous. Every club is supported, but some, like ours, are supported far more than others.

I guess that random article posted is the authority then, despite the numbers.
Ours is supported more because we had a stadium deal that crippled the club. The AFL knew this.
We also get supported more because we don't get any marquee games (no - Maddies match and Pride round aren't Marquee games).

We get supported more because we don't play on Prime Time very often, nor do we get many FTA games.

That's what the equalization measures are for, to even up the financials for the teams - because not all teams are treated equally. And that's okay.

It just means people can't turn around and complain that North and St Kilda get more money from the AFL than a Collingwood or a West Coast do. They have significantly more, and better opportunities to make money than St Kilda does.

We tried hard to be competitive in the 1st qrt. Skill errors f**ked us & losing the toss.
Yep it was also very windy. There was more effort than perhaps you saw on a tv screen. But our skills weren’t great. As usual. Umps were mostly good.
Frustrating few hours but a great stadium to watch a game at.
Next few weeks are not going to be pretty.

If people genuinely believe where they finished in 2024 as an indication of who they are this year - then they have rocks for brains.

They recruited experienced afl talent - we cut that type of talent. Someone like Membrey would have been hugely valuable today.

They had a fully fit side. We have 9/22 best missing

And how have those weights of yours correlated with an AFL career muscles?
How many AFL games have you played? Do you have to be an ex-AFL player to have an opinion on here?

I was responding to a statement I was a 60+ booze drinking slob which couldn't be further from the truth, but who cares about context I guess.

Isnt it sad we are one game into the season and the one thing we have to look forward to is that a bunch of skinny 18 yo's lifting us out of the mire! It just doesnt happen and unless they are exceptional they are generally better off finding their feet in the VFL for a year or two.

The club has been cruelled by preseason injuries for as long as I can remember. The Lyon mantra of being able to out run oppositions is rubbish if you cant win and maintain possession of the ball. The constant injuries are a disaster for a club with zero depth and the list build is also looking very ordinary at this time.

Yes we are a young list but we are also the least physically developed list in the competition, but HEY we can run!

Don’t worry everybody, we have lots of excuses so it’s all okay! No other club has any hardship, injuries or lost players in the offseason so we are uniquely placed to feel fine about losing to a side that we should be, must be, better than.

Have a wonderful, cheery day. Season 2025 has arrived!!! 😁

What a sport. Spend months building excitement and reality kicks you in the face within the first 5 minutes.

I reckon you’d struggle to find a club outside of Richmond with such a significant lack of depth of players in their prime years.

We rely on players entering their twilight to continue to perform or young players to jump out of the box

Any word from those master media people at Sandy and how the VFL praccy match went?
Kicked 5 in the first 15 minutes. Got clawed back. Down by 2 kicks half way through the last and got up and won. 80-78

North fan as a write up on their board.

Hill was terrible today got his first kick in the 3rd quarter and yet apparently taught Travaglia a lesson doesn't feel me with confidence
Agree but we all know he is pretty much exclusively an outside player and requires others to feed it to him where he then runs and carries - that’s his role. We were so poor today that no one could feed it out.

Notwithstanding, as a senior player he would want to grit his teeth next week and hunt the ball when his turn comes - another week of that output is not acceptable.

You’re also arguing that you know better about football conditioning because you’ve been in the gym for 28 years.

If you don’t know what you’re arguing about, don’t argue

Don't know what thread you have read, but not excuses, unless of course you believe having 7 out with 4 underdone makes no difference.
Totally overmatched, but not an excuse, our team.not good enough.

Feels like the season is going to be done before we get players back. Why can't we have one year where we don't get shat on?
