First month of the season anything can happen. Just get the W and hopefully no more injuries.
Exactly this.

Carlton will be fired up, we’ve got to match them and score heavily when we get our opportunity.

HOORAY for the rain! An outdoor catchup with mates has been postponed - due to my prompting :smilev1: - so I can watch it all unfold. Can’t wait.

We’ve been ‘on’ the first two games. If we turn up again and give it our all, I think we’ll win this, no matter what they throw at us. Go Hawks!!

Edit: by ‘on’ I don’t mean at our scintillating best, but determined, focused and on the same page

Go Hawks! It is looking wet before and during the game. Will that see a late change? Would we risk dropping a tall in conditions less likely to suit the talls?
What exactly are the rules, if any, regarding late changes?

Can we swing a late change based purely on the weather or does the AFL require us to provide a 'valid sicknote', i.e. either a late injury or genuine sickness? Given how tight the AFL is with the betting agencies, I wouldn't be surprised if they have some small-print saying it's the latter.

Fairly sure you can make any change you want for any reason as long as it's from your squad of 26. Sub needs to be confirmed an hour out.

If you have a player in a bet, and that player is named sub, sportsbet will just void the bet and you keep your stake.

flip of the coin for me. It's a 50-50 game. Really need Meek and Newk to have a good one.
Scrimma is a huge out, combined with Worpel that's two of our absolute hard nuts.
get the W and the season is really set up nicely.

If the Blues top 4-5 players fire they can beat anyone.

Hope we are ready for the pressure they will no doubt bring.

Not the end of the world if we lose.

In terms of consistency, they have runs of 9-10 games as a bottom 4 with other runs as a top4 team. Notably the 2023 prelim. Which is slightly better than the hawks in 2024 who missed a prelim by a kick.

They are currently in a bottom 4 run stretching back 10 games. Let’s not be the game where they switch

Let's get it done for Jars

Expecting a close game up until 3qtr time, Hawks kick away in the last to get the W by 30 points.

The area that Carlton could have the upper hand is in the midfield, contested possessions, clearances etc …….. which is the same area that we needed to address at training during the week after looking at the numbers/stats from the Bombers game.

I reckon we will also come to play, we will break even in the midfield and with our team evenness/connection all over the ground we should get the 4 points.

Richmond beat them in clearances last week.

Form line for the respective teams:

Last ten games.

Carlton: L L W L L L W L L L.

Hawthorn: W W L W W W W L W W.

Conclusion: Hawks by plenty.
Also worth noting their 2 W’s were against West Coast and North Melbourne. And our 2 L’s were against Geelong in Geelong, and Port by half a goal post in Adelaide.

We’re currently on a 7 game winning streak at the MCG. Having not lost there since the Swans gave us a touch up the week before we got over the Dogs and started our run to finals.
