Lewis will slaughter McGovern.

He'll get Weitering. McGovern will try to float as the loose interceptor.

They dont have match ups for Gunner or Breust, or Chad if he gets up. They've got Plowman. Good luck.

Amazing what a few wins does for the confidence, we managed to contain Naughton last week no problems. Accountability goes both ways Docherty, Saad, Williams and McGovern have been very damaging of the back flank against two very good teams.

More than happy for the game to be a shootout

Funny, just thought the same looking over here. Good luck!
Thought the same what? I just posted some stats from box hill's game in response to someone asking how Howe did. Not sure how thoughts come into it.

Cripps and Walsh are the worry for me in this march.

Walsh was BOG last time we played them (he looked a class above that day) and Cripps is just so much bigger and stronger than any of our midfielders (apart from Nash who is more of an old school utility) that he could run riot.

Sam has got to put the acid on JOM, Mitchell and Worps that they need to lift if we are to win cause I think we are superior everywhere else in the ground.

Boak, Butters and Wines ran riot too but we were so well structured it didn't matter. We won't lose sleep over Carlton running some clearances. We do need to take advantage of a weaker Blues ruck duo though to gain first use.

Sicily, Frost and DGB will find the going harder against McKay and Curnow than they did against Port.

Would love to see Saad v Breust one out.
Or Williams v Gunston for that matter.
Especially when the ball is flying in there as quickly as it is at present.
Port defenders simply couldn't cope.

That's true but even Sam said after the match it wasn't a sustainable to get smashed so badly in clearances and win as easily as we did.

I don't think we will ever be agr at clearance side with our current midfield but we should at least try and minimise the damage.

I doubt very much that we drop Finn. His workrate is top notch.

It's hard for me to have a strong opinion on this. Because you can run a lot without actually being damaging. I was at the ground in round 1 and saw how his running was stretching the play and creating opportunities. But for the Port game I don't have much of a clue.

If Wingard and Day are both fit then SOMEONE has to come out, and Finn would have to be amongst the most expendable.

With Wingard's soft tissue history, i would be really surprised if the club risked him. Just not worth it in round 3.

Out: Wings (inj)
In: Day

We probably need to also lose a defender for a forward though...

I think a lot of us thought we’d be entering a few years of dishing out some payback, but no, Hawthorn gotta be Hawthorn.

Shaping to be a cracking contest this one.

GF preview.

It needs more context.
What is his role and why is he covering so much ground but not appearing to have significant influence on the game?
Negating role?
To create space?

Possessions are just one form of measure, but he only beat Chad, Reeves and DGB on Saturday night.

Indeed. If you're aiming for recovery, ice temporarily stops the inflammatory process which means that it slows down recovery. It's still good for taking down swelling or pain mitigation if you want to get someone back on the ground asap, but if the aim is to recover there are better methods.

I’m not sure it’s fair on the guy to do it each week, but I love Tommy Phillips as the sub. He gives us so much run and effort when he comes on.
Agreed. His disposal / kicking isn't top notch but at this stage in our rebuild Flip is a pretty good utility that can play a variety of roles in a crisis. He can play anything from wing to on ball and rest up forward and always seems to kick a goal or 2 if needed. He's the perfect stop gap player atm which definitely makes him the perfect player to be named as a sub.

We can all play this game, look at rounds 1-2, if you think the ball will be flying into your fwd line like it did against Nth and Port you haven't watch much footy.

Lets reverse the game....

Curnow V who?
Harry V who?
TDK v who?
SOS v who?

Pretty easy, all told. Match ups will vary depending on who is on the ground, and will rotate. Sicily and Frost are quick and mobile enough to rotate between Curnow and Harry, Scrimshaw and Jiath will take mobile roles and peel off where possible, DGB will likely take the resting ruck and Hardwick will play on any mid-small players who are dangerous so probably Silvagni.

Oi

Dont come here acting like you are some unstoppable juggernaut and acting like a tool

You were accurate finishing away from being 1-1

Be polite and have constructive conversations

But if you need some answers to those questions

Curnow - Sic
Harry - Frost
TDK- DGB
SOS gets toweled up by Hardwick or whoever we want

Going into this season, everyone would've looked at this game as being an absolute fizzer, yet both teams are flying at 2-0 and playing a good brand of footy. Of course I want Carlton to win but geez this is going to be a v competitive game. All things considered, many externals overlook that Hawthorn's second half of the season last year was bloody good - yes, there were a few $hit results, but you can't discount the fact that they drew with Tigers and Dees, and beat Dogs, Brisbane, GWS and Sydney. So off the back of that, you've regained some quality players after missing large stints of last year with injuries, and Mitchell at the helm without the rubbish conjecture in the background about the handover etc.

Definitely has all the hallmarks to go down to the wire.

In both of your first two matches the opposition has generated more scores per inside fifty than Carlton. Dogs even had more inside fifties. I think there is good reason to think our forwards will be a tough match up for your defenders. We wouldn’t want to concede as many inside fifties v you as Richmond did but if we break even the match will be close.

Our defence was good last year and now we have Sicily back. Not many sides got a hold of us even when we were getting flogged in the midfield. Midfield pressure will be a big factor.

I argued for almost the entire summer on the main board that we weren’t the worst side in it, based on how we performed in the backend of the year, but people wouldn’t have it and instead claimed we’d win the spoon.
Similarly, I argued that Carlton were the most obvious side to jump up the ladder due to the talent up your spine and in the middle.

I can still see Carlton getting the chocolates as our modified midfield is a work in progress and Carlton’s is quite strong, but there’s a lot to like about our back half, and the forward line looks to be far more dangerous under Mitchell also.

Here’s hoping that it’s a tightly fought out game with no injuries.
