There were a few reports afterwards that Neeld was never offered the role by Adelaide - they rejected his application.

Whilst Tex’s contribution has been enormous, what he’s meant to the club has been even more than his output.
The bloke has copped it from every angle without support from the club.
He obviously brought the lastest wrong-doing on himself, but his previous behavior didn’t warrant the shit he’s copped.

I just hope that he approached the club about standing down as captain and not the other way around.

Not really, look at our footy dept under his stewardship. Complete and utter mediocrity. And it was him that recruited Burton as our head of fitness. He's lucky he walked into an already turned around Brisbane and that the guy that replaced him was the worst head of footy of the modern era.
