They seem to topping up their list with middle tier talent , They are in danger if not careful of having a WAFL level midfield led by players they have picked up that are over 24 at debut.

As much as it pains me to say it, but I want them to be in around the 8 when we are successful - I want tears from the Eagles supporters for the next 5-6 years as we rip their team apart in every derby…..
It doesn’t feel as satisfying when they bottom out and are resigned to the result week in week out…The only way to shut them up forever would be to play them in a GF and beat them - devouring the banter of previous premierships.

What the **** is Barrett talking about when he says there are contractual obligations to hold games at Docklands? The AFL own the ****ing place, they're not going to take themselves to court.

All comes back to that disgraceful MCG contract guaranteeing the grand final there until armageddon.

Hmmm it was one of those conversations were he was really saying “yeah yeah, what ever Tony, I don’t really give a shit”
Barrett is the AFLs chief journalist and well able to pontificate when he wants to on all sorts of issues.
In his mind this is all fine, nothing to see here.
It wouldn’t be difficult for the AFL to do the following two simple enough gestures to give the game some semblance of being a genuine national comp.
1. Guarantee every team plays at least twice at the MCG in the H&A season.
2. Guarantee each team at least one Friday night game on national FTA tv and one Saturday night game on national FTA tv each season.

Doing both those basic gestures would still allow them to indulge in their obsessions with large vic clubs. But it would at least avoid horrible runs like freo not getting a Friday night game for 6 years in a row.

Almost every afl footballer would be on some kind of program to boost their testosterone levels. It’s not surprising a few are going down with this kind of issue.

Yes but they don’t own the catering and hospitality that are at the stadium. They have contracts with them for x many games. Cant change that without financial recourse
