Do you think we take him regardless of what he does this year? Fills a bit of a need if we let Wilson go and someone we can take our time with
He fits the bill for us so I don't see us skipping over him. National draft talent, going late (given we might not have a first if we're getting Jackson), local and plays the wing where we could use a bit more depth. Think his upside is also too much to overlook

No longer hidden ☹️

Was only ever "hidden" to those not following junior footy, but (and I don't want to sound too negative) in reality you have to wonder whether he will even get drafted; a large part of the reason he got a call up to the championships was probably because the WA cupboard up forward in terms of talls this year is very bare. I would expect about 5 tall forwards total to get chosen this year in the main draft, and those are likely to be:
  • Jefferson
  • Cadman
  • Lemmey
  • Scully
  • Keeler
He may have a chance in the Rookie draft, depending in the needs of teams, but if teams are looking for players that can both pinch hit ruck and forward then they may look elsewhere (Barnett from South Australia comes to mind).

I'm not expecting to have a pick for him but with Busslinger done with his shoulder might slip enough.
Duff said today on the podcast that a WA recruiter thinks Gilbey is guaranteed to be the first picked WA kid - seems like it's just not a great year for WA talent.

Sucks to be a WA club with a top 5 pick...

Are we actually expecting to have a pick in the first round this year though? Surely Busslinger will still be a first?

Buss could be a good pickup if Logue leaves...

It’s the opposite with Jedd, he’s had the shoulder issue all season & is getting it done sooner to be ready for his new club. I don’t think it will effect where he goes, other than others who may jump up whilst he’s not playing.

It's shaping as an interesting draft. You could argue there's a top 2 in Ashcroft and Wardlaw, and then the next 20 or so spots are up for grabs. Nobody is really separating themselves at the moment, which is probably good for the teams who finish higher up the ladder like us. There's guys who didn't even make my 50 who could still be in the first round mix, all depends on individual club boards.

Overall, I don't mind the draft depth. I think there'll be some good players picked up late, and I imagine clubs will have personal favourites they get excited about late in the draft. It's just that even, whether that's for good or bad reasons is up for debate. Bigger mids, half backs and top end KPFs are looking like the strengths. KPDs and small forwards seem to be lacking at the moment.

From a WA perspective, I quite like Reuben Ginbey in the middle. And Sam Gilbey will likely push higher than I have him. Still don't think either go ahead of Busslinger or Hewett. I have a soft spot for Jed Hagan, but Darcy Jones is probably the small we'd be more keen on I imagine.

Good to see Reuben Ginbey getting some recognition. He’s 190cm now with a bit more growing to go perhaps & is quick to go with the size. Will start back at senior level but will definitely transition into the midfield of whoever picks him up.
A fair bit of interest in him.

Hi Chris. Have you seen Will Cassidy play? Think he has a shot at being drafted? He's a Margaret River guy.

With the PSA bye this weekend he’s playing Colts at EP. Very good player who needs more exposure & should get that later in the year. I think he’s a better talent than Jimmy Tunstill (Sorry I’m not Chris but know the SW boys)

Hi Chris, do you think Christian Wilson from south freo is good enough to get drafted. He is in the Freo NGA, and is averaging 30+ at colts, he kinda reminds me of Libba as he’s in and under getting it out to his other midfielders like chase bourne

Obviously didn’t make the 18s side, any thought on Connor McDonald, tearing up Colts for Perth, and Aquinus. Any chance to be drafted?

Jermaine Pickett is one to keep an eye on. Reserve debutant yesterday for the Swans. 8 disp and Kicked 3.1. Hopefully he can keep his good form up!

Darcy Jones with 24 disp and kicking 1.1 for colts.

if we bring in Jackson and Brayshaw, we’ll have nit much to use.

if we only snag Brayshaw, would Hustwsit or Munkarra be worth our first?

Others will know the WA boys better than me. My knowledge is mostly around the bigger names and those playing at the Champs.

I thought McDonald was alright today though.

Doubt Munkara goes in the top 20, more of a chance in the late 30s if a team wants to jump Essendon. And while I like Hustwaite, not for us. Some view him as a big mid, but I think his best chance is as a Chapman like defender.

I think we’d more be hoping someone like George or Hollands gets through to us. Even a smaller player like Blake Drury, tough and a good ball user across half forward.

If we keep our first pick, George and Hollands would be in our hitting zone, so good options.

Jasper Scaife as a B Class Rookie?, what’s happened with Conrad Williams.
