Personally, I started having concerns with the coaches and the way we were playing at about round 4 where we were describing wins as “bank the 4 points and move on” type games. When you’re doing that and your intention is to be contending you know things aren’t going as well as they could and should. That’s certainly something that hasn’t just been an issue in the past week when Covid reared it’s head.

I blame Danny Daly he's in charge of the coaches and should be driving excellence.
i really do not blame people.
Some players not come on as much as we liked, some dropped off.
The game changed.

I do think we need to try something different in the midfield.
Instead of trying the same thing over and over and hope for a different result

I don't know enough to blame or praise coaches for anything but when the worm turned on the Fagan magic dust that the footy world was happy to go along with then scrutiny comes as it does with every coaching panel.

They'll live or die on results at the end of the day . So far the results have been good. I think they're due some latitude even though they don't do what I would do some of the time. We're just sitting in the cheap seats making judgements about what happens on the field and drawing the bow to what coaching had to do with it.

Looking in from the outside we've got a bit of a stale look about us all round . Whether that's a false impression and what impact coaching has had on it I've no idea.

There was a contest I saw right in front of me on the weekend. Midway through the 4th quarter, 11 points down. We win a centre clearance, get the ball in deep and generate a deep F50 stoppage. We have repeat stoppages and increasing pressur - lots of wrestling for the ball. Essendon just manage to win it but hack kick it to teh opposite side of the ground under the pressure from Charlie and Lyons. Its 2 v 1 Sharp/Madden vs one Essendon bloke. Harry goes to block the Essendon player leaving Madden to the ball. Unfortunately Madden gets under the ball and it bounces in between. The Essendon player outmuscles both of these players and scrubs a kick out of the 50 - towards the wing and then Stringer wins a one-on-one against someone (?Lester) and toes the ball towards our HB line for a stoppage. Instantly all that pressure is gone and we have to now defend. How is a coach responsible for that? We should have had a turnover in the F50 - possibly a centered pass into the middle for an easy shot. Instead we get sent back to our own defense and have to waste another 5 minutes building pressure. Ah Chee/Answerth/Pryor/Coleman in any 2 player combination would not have let that happen. Calling for Fagan's head after the Bombers match is pure irrational behaviour.

‘I was a bit annoyed’: Lions coach Chris Fagan spills on journalist confrontation

Speaking to SEN Breakfast on Friday morning, Fagan admitted he had overstepped the mark, but asserted that Whiting’s report was “a bit unfair”.

“It wasn’t in my press conference. As I walked in, I made a comment to Michael Whiting about what he he’d written about our game,” he said.

“I shouldn’t have to be honest.

“In the car on the way home I rang him, and I apologised for what I said.

“It had been a big week, a hand grenade had been thrown into the club, we’d been beaten by not much and I thought what he wrote was a bit unfair.

“I don’t know too many teams in the competition that can make nine forced changes and come out and play their best footy.

I have been on the Coaching Wagon towards the end of last season and all of this season. Where we are now I could see it coming. Even my wife kept saying to me " Your Coach and Assistants are the issue". I have totally agreed with her. I can see the heat on the Coach and Assistants is going to increase from moderate to extreme by the end of the H&A Season. If we make the finals and go out in our first final (makes it 1 win 6 losses), surely the club has to react to the failures under Fagan and Assistants. This season so far, I cannot say that I have been extremely happy with our performances but I cannot see anything that's given me the impression that we will improve from now to the end of the season - Nothing changed in the last 2 years. Sadly, our opportunity may have passed. I am hungry for another Flag - it took me most of my life to get 1 but fortunate to get 3 flags. How good was that. We have to be ruthless, make the hard decisions and definitely get the quality expertise into our club. We now claim we are a destination club but if we continue the way we are at present, I can assure you we won't be a destination club. What brings Players and Supporters to the Club: SUCCESS.

Punctuation, like paragraphs, man.

Mike Whiting was on the AFL morning podcast this morning and was asked about the incident.
Coaches are on a hiding to nothing when they start having a crack at journalists about something they write.

Fages has been around long enough to know this.

Besides which Mike said next to nothing.

Never complain ,never explain. I think The Queen said that.

Did you listen to Fagans comments around the incident?

No.

But only what's been reported in the media.

Which was kind of my point. Just don't go there.

I mean, it may be worth listening to what Chris said about it instead of relying on the media who have blown things away out of proportion.

I'm not relying on the media for truth or perspective.

What I am saying is getting involved in that situation , either by design or accident, never does you any favours.
