Well that explains the quality of many of your posts.

Plenty of opinions, Zero knowledge.

For the record, Brennan is a good chance to make the All Australian Squad. Butts and Murray, Zero chance.

IMHO, our greatest need is a key defender. I like Butts and he has had a better season than some posters have suggested. Murray has shown some promising flashes but is no guarantee to make it as an AFL footballer. That leaves Billy Frampton and Borlase.
Watching a lot of footy doesn't mean you have good opinions though ;) which can lead to an overinflated opinion of ones football knowledge and oneself.

Both Butts and Murray are young KPD and the excuse for KPD stuck in the SANFL is they take time to develop. Murray when he has returned has been the more impressive of the 2.

We are still in development years and we should see how they develop before we use significant draft capital on a contracted KPD.

Can anyone explain what type of player Cox is?

Is he Butts type - lock down big?
Is he Murray type - suited to 2nd tall, more mobile forwards?
Is he Doedee type - intercept, 3rd tall?

I'm trying to figure out where he would fit.
195cm/99kg .. more in the May mould I'd say. Replaces either Butts or Murray instantly

On Pixel 6 Pro using BigFooty.com mobile app

Definitely intercept third tall is his best position (but we only play two talls), and then lock down big when pearce isn't playing.

He would be our best tall defender. They would play Cox, Murray, Doedee, Worrell, Parnell, Smith/Hinge, Jones/Hamill? A pretty good defence. I would see Butts as backup if they bring in Cox.

He's Nathan Bock, an Attacking Centre Half Back capable of defending the big guys 👍

No he's not ....where did you get that idea of Cox ?

He's a great mark .....it's been his #1 wood since pre-draft .....but he's slow & certainly can't be compared to Bock

Cox is more of a Lever type player, but better 1:1

You might want to have a look at the Freo board then - one of them thinks to get Cox, we would have to offer $1 million per year for 6 years and then it would cost our 2022 1st and 2023 1st and 2023 2nd.

Now that's a little far fetched to say the least, but contracted and in the form he is in, hard pass from me for what it would cost

My 1 wood is my least powerful club as the ball usually ends up hitting a tree not long after I hit it.

He's slow but deceptive. Rarely ever gets bought down in a tackle and seems to find time and space where there is none, which allows him to take the attacking option with his disposal.

I've watched every FREO game, the last 7 years .....Cox plays his "role" well & has had a great year, no doubt .....Young, Ryan, and Chapman are the strength of the FREO DEF ....they provide the bounce off HB

Would I chase him? ......under normal circumstances, no.... I'd prefer to use Worrell ....but we don't know the backroom machinations of players movements yet

Wouldn't offer anything remotely resembling the FREO Boards ambit claims .....based on this career thus far ? .....been in/out of the side

Like that 🤣 ......I think that's an accurate description

Are you hearing Cox wants a move & why ?

Would Cox be a Free agent next year, don't give up capital? Just wait until then. Give Borlase a try next year for a few games, and see how Butts gets on with Worrell and Murray.

I wouldn’t pay what Freo would likely ask, but make no mistake, Cox would be our best Key Back by a MILE. Problem with playing both Murray and Butts is both are spoil first backs. Cox while being a really good 1on1 defender, also intercepts the ball and provides a springboard from defense. Skills are far above what Murray and Butts provide. Butts at FB and Cox at CHB would be a terrific pairing going forward.

I think the sticking point is going to be the fact that he's contracted. Whilst he would be good I think the time to nab him was when he was ooc. The club should look for ooc KPD's. I believe Powaa are looking at Ben Mackay from North. Contracted until the end of 2023 though.

I think there is close to a 0% chance he wants a move. Unless Adelaide are offering him crazy money. Signed a contract with freo 8 months ago and bought a house a couple months ago too. Very close with the playing group. Can't imagine him leaving

Nah just a lot of injury. Has been a lock for b22 ever since his move to defence (hasn't been dropped).

FWIW that freo poster is well known for over valuing our players. But at the very least we'd want Adelaide's first.
An early 1st round pick? You'd get laughed out of the room honestly. Cox is a nice piece in a contending team but a gamebreaker he is not.

Yeah but point is he's contracted for two more years and JL firmly believes he's deserving of an AA this year. He's obviously valued by the club a lot more than externally which is why there is zero chance they let him go whilst contracted for anything less than an early first round pick.

I might not matter what you think you deserve if he's contracted, and you need his salary gone to fit in Jackson.
