If Pyke somehow puts the Eagles in an even worse position, that's going to make me reassess the weighting of blame in the whole Pyke/Birdbrain saga.

The trade itself isn't the only issue.

The issue is: are the people at West Coast making these decisions competent? And what other decisions will they stuff up?

It's one of those signpost moments where the negative implications are far greater than just one single decision

This is going to be a mess
Yep

The last time their board intervened was when Choco wanted to make Shaun Burgoyne captain from memory

The board vetoed it, chose Dom.

Shaun went on to win three premierships and Port Powers ended up on the path to Primus

The backend picks (not worth much) are even more in favor of Carlton
Doing them a favour to get Campo boys.

The other clubs are idiots for not wanting to change the father son discounts this year. Looks like Carlton aren’t going to be benefit, the only club that will is the reigning premier

That was for full contract life wasn’t it? Rat 1 year Luko 2
not 100% sure but cant imagine its for the contract life as Luko alone is at least 800-900k per year for the next 2 years. and Rat 400k owed in 2025

not sure if i misunderstood your post here mate but all academic probably anyway.

just hope:

  • Power dont effectively coerce Houston to Kangas for F1 (which they then upgrade to 2024 and 2025 first rounders which I can see happening if they secured Kangas F1)
  • Suns do need to dump salary and may allow Port to take Luko (and possibly Rat) for a F2 ONLY

I find it unbelievable that other teams don't come in a undercut this terrible deal now they know how desperate West Coast are.

MFC have a better hand, as do Richmond and St Kilda.
This is a very even draft. Melbourne gave a F1 to get that second pick, so like WC they prefer 2 picks to 1 top 3 pick. Saints obviously the same.

If WC get someone like Travaglia at 12, who I rate higher than FOS anyway, and add Baker and Owies, this could be a really good strategy.

I can see it this happening: Carlton trading pick 3 to Port for Houston. Port then using pick 3 to pick Draper. Port always seem to find a way to get in front of the Crows in the draft.. just like when they picked Rozzee

Absolutely zero chance this happening

They have pulled the pin on Houston and will get Finn O’Sullivan in the draft who is a relative of Sam Walsh

Blues were steadfast at not handing pick 12 for Houston - no way they give up pick 3 for him.

Zero chance

So what else are Richmond going to give North for their future first?

Ralphy, typical biased Tiges supporter crap. How in the hell does pick 10 get a VERY LIKELY top 3 draft pick in 2025 to any unbiased judge

Isnt he also saying Rioli is worth 6 AND 23 - or is that some other biased Vic journo numbnut

Crikey

So who gives 63/68 to Carlton?

Surely...SURELY WCE would be demanding Richmond's pick 20 also coming to them in that deal.

Getting Baker, Owies, 12, 20 & 73 is starting to get back to parity for them. I still maintain they should try trading 14 for Sydney's 19 & 22 and then flick 19 for Baker and keep 22 to go to the draft.

I thought I saw the figure somewhere of 2.2 so 900k for each of Luko plus 400k for Rat

When Carlton wouldn’t trade 12 for Houston they definitely aren’t giving up 3 for him 😂
