Hasn't looked like ever having any interest not even from the mob down the road.

I'm pretty sure he's been in the same situation as Schoenberg and Burgess in the past and again no interest.
We have a lot more contract situations to be mad about than our solid KPD depth’s minimum chips 2 year deal.

That may be so but it's an ongoing Adelaide board fallacy that someone is going to "pinch" Borlase when he's been out of contract or nearing the end of contract a number of times and there's never even been a hint of interest from any AFL clubs.

Borlase, strawnie and burgess aren't the fxxkn problems.. it is just laughable people here seem to want to focus on them.

They are depth. Thats it..and Borlase has actually shown he can be handy depth at times.

The real problem(s) are smith, murphy and laird..

Smith should’ve been forced to retire and murphy and laird should be nothing more than depth.
Problem is, according to the club around January next year, all three will have had “dominant preseasons” and will just “have to be picked” for R1..

And these the two fxxkn hacks and one cooked vet will get at least half a dozen games to spud it up before anyone at the club even starts to question their inclusions in the 23..

We all know its coming.

This should be what everyone in here is pissed about.

The context is that he clearly took the piss with his preparation/standards/attitude. His fitness went backwards in an elite environment. An indictment on him and the club.

Let’s see how he goes during pre season. Will he be tailed off the back and struggling like Taylor last year - or will he be at least hanging with the group. That will tell us a lot

The rest of his combine was pretty good

Laird is far better depth than Burgess. Relisting Burgess was a deadset terrible decision.

She's gotta be sacked if this is her priority ....so many aspects of the game to be improved and Laura Kane is focussing on DEI

She is the best thing to ever happen to the NRL in this country.

Surely there's a public service office somewhere that could use her talents.

You're a few days late.

I think this has already been disproven, right? Tom Elliot came on later and told his audience that clubs were offered an EXTRA spot, which could be used for women or people from a non-traditional cultural pathway. You get 12 spots, and a 13th bonus spot you can choose to use if you have someone appropriate for it.

Still, i presume it was enough to get the 3AW listeners foaming at the mouth. Personally, I'm not sure why you need 12 people in there to begin with.

We only needed 2-3.

Interesting Powa took mid Tom Cochrane in the rookie draft while his father is going hell for leather trying to get the far far better younger brother Dougie eligible for their NGA Academy.

This is pretty shameless, even for them.

Well I dont think this is designed as DEI, more so to upskil women and keep them involved so they can take those skills back to the AFLW. The AFL need to find every opportunity to increase every aspect of the AFLW.

Not an Adelaide board fallacy, an Adelaide Football Club fallacy. Hence us being spooked to sign him up early this season. And to a two year deal amazingly

Why spooked?

There are no issues with the Borlase deal. Perfectly adequate cheap kpd depth.
We could have signed him later and to a one year deal

He would have still been there if we needed him and would have given us some list options

There was no need to sign him when we did or for as long as we did

Fair - but he's on close to minimum wage and is someone we want on the list as he's useful depth.

Not something that bothers me.

The only one that really does is Smith - we should have navigated that better

What is in his favour is that both Butts and Murray are highly injury prone, and he has shown that going in and out of the side doesn't seem to phase him.

I would have liked us to look for a taller, quicker defender in the draft but I can see why they've stuck with him.

Wasn't early in the season, September I think, maybe late August. How sure are you no one else wanted him? Not imaging he was in hot demand but if we offered one year and he looked around, I'm sure there's at least a few clubs that would've happily taken cheap KPD depth that has proven he can handle the level. No idea why this is a concern when we have Pedlar, Jones and Cook signed until end of '26 and we signed an injury prone Cumming to a 6 year deal - he's played 81 games in 8 years - that's a lower game per year rate than Milera for all the Wayne haters that have bizarrely and suspiciously popped up in the last month.

It's a concern because we locked ourselves mostly out of a strong draft needlessly.

Yep, this isn't the sole contract issue in the history of the club.

If Borlase got taken by another club then plug in any delisted KPD and they are in the same ballpark in terms of performance.

I think we planned a long way out (years ago) not to take many draftees now to balance the age profile of our list. So the Borlase list spot and giving away our 2nd was no biggie to us.

The decision to re-sign Borlase is the least of the list management decisions affecting our participation in the ND.

The decisions relating to Smith, Cook & Berry were far more significant and disturbing.

There's no argument that it would have been good/nice to have at least 1 additional "live" selection in the ND - but pointing the finger at the Borlase decision is just wrong.
