Given what Whateley has just released and he is a campaigner then my info is lining up - he has not told North no so logically he will confirm his verbal yes by signing in the next 48 hours. Now that doesn’t mean it’s announced straight away. But the meeting with Patch and Zeibs has allegedly been scheduled and the so called soft date is out there. It’s too much of a coincidence that the GWS stuff is out today. As for Essendon - as I have said Clarko is a very strict person in what he wants - I don’t think he’s going to be doing due diligence on their s**t show when he’s just done it on us and has a 5 year deal in front of him.
In all honesty the GWS announcement sort of backs up all the ITK info - it’s very close now.

Or the GWS info suggests that he wanted to stay in Vic but wasn't sure North was the place for him. Bombers enter the party and the decision that'll enable him to stay in Vic is a lot clearer. I hope it's not the case, just another way of interpreting the public facts.

It's the way to look at it. It's reported Clarkson has told them no. It means Clarkson may engage in quick process with Essendon but if it was anywhere along as some people are saying, that there was already talks taking place, then he hasn't yet said no to us.

The way I see it - if Clarko was secretly engaging in talks with * whilst Rutten was coach and he was never keen on GWS then he and * are match made perfect in heaven.
I’d expect conduct like this from Lyon but not Clarko.

The way I see it - he either comes to us, great but if he goes to * then he’s not a suitable fit for us and never was. And the latter just seems too hard to believe.

he had offers at carlton and collingwood and didn't take those...

he took hawthorn to being a medium sized club to one of the biggest, they were top 3 or 4 for a few years, i think they're about 5th now that carlton supporters are back on the bandwagon.

he has all the money he needs, he's almost the GOAT coach. i don't see why he'd want to make an existing large club larger. it's been great watching essendon fail time and time again, but like collingwood etc. they'll be back at the top again at some point. they survived the largest doping scandal ever, they're too large to fail. But bringing north to the top for a consistent period and ensuring their long term survival, that transcends being the GOAT coach.

I fully agree with the premise of your points.

IF he has committed to us I would hope he still goes and talks to *. This is a different situation to normal coaching appointments. Normally you have a bunch of guys selling themselves to the club. Here we have a bunch of clubs selling themselves to the coach. Clarko can go into * meeting and find out which players are leaving, which are staying, and what there trade/draft strategies are. Flipside is that he has the same info from North - most likely has been over the full Walsh Report with Sonja.

My take on this business is that he still has to keep his mouth shut due to a clause in his Hawthorne contract in order to get the full payout or to avoid penalty. GWS have called time and informed him that they want to announce their pick this week. As they already know their 2023 coach is Yze, Clarkson's team needed a second Melbourne club to be in the mix. Kingy and he pulled the * story out of their backsides and set a wildfire burning.

Same thing happened. We professionally sat quietly in the background waiting for a response while Richmond scrambled at the last minute to get the deal over the line.

But you can’t force someone to take the job, he either wants or he doesn’t?
