Dont blame it all on him. Charlie played on at all cost in the last quarter. Arent players told to use up all the time when youve got the lead???Durdin contender for best play of the year with only 1 behind needed to make finals and kicks to absolutely no one. Classy.
I think I'm just as mentally soft as the players. Really affects me, has negative impact on relationships etc. An unhealthy obsession with something that is ultimately meaningless. Think it's better to disengage. Would never begrudge a Blues flag but it may have to be won without me riding every bump and ******* myself up mentally every second week.
People need to stop calling players mentally weak, it really is poor form. How can we do it 2 weeks in a row…
The boys are still mentally weak… We need to spend the extra soft cap on psychologists…
We. Are. Carlton. You will. We all will. It’s what we do.
Only needed to win one of those by the 40 odd points we led by and we are inExactly our lack of a killer instinct to truly bury teams when we are on top killed us. We probably gave up at least 200points over the course of the season losing big leads.
My mental health is already screwed... and I have covid. But the good thing was, I was alone in the house and could really unleash about the dodgy decisions the umpires made in the last.On a serious note and I say this gently and with love- if anyone is feeling unhealthily crushed by this loss, remember that it is just a game. It's a brutal loss and it ******* hurts but it's not worth impacting personal relationships or your mental health over. Take care Baggers.
The quick snap is a mental thing, he doesn't want time to think about it, play on instinct. At the risk of being unpopular Im going to town on Charlie for this one. More interested in being a lair than doing the right things. Grow the duck up Charlie. Seriously. Playing on and snapping when it's all on the line, not even taking 15 seconds. Does he see himself as above the basic fundamentals of football? Of goalscoring? And then to top it off that kick inside 50m with 2 minutes left. Had Docherty 20m clear at half forward. But kicked it to a contest. Just imbecilic play all night.
Durdin, Like WTAF. You take a mark 60m out there's a minute to go and you need to score to play finals. Anyone at the game would've seen 2-3 players free inside 50m when he took the mark. He elected to ignore them and hold the ball for 10 seconds whilst Collingwood set up. The he kicked it straight to two Collingwood players with no Calton player in sight. The height of imcompetence.
(to anyone knocking him for that pass) Go back and watch Durdin’s kick. Yes he should have hit up fisher, but that pass wasn’t horrible.
Curnow is one v one on the edge of the square standing boundary side protecting space in the pocket to lead. As he pushes off, Durdin kicks it to where he thinks he’s about to lead, but he doesn’t lead there, he moves inside (away from the boundary) and the Collingwood player reads the kick leaving curnow to take an uncontested mark.
it's more than just a game. it's hard for it to not impact ur mental health. On a serious note and I say this gently and with love- if anyone is feeling unhealthily crushed by this loss, remember that it is just a game. It's a brutal loss and it ******* hurts but it's not worth impacting personal relationships or your mental health over. Take care Baggers.
What would you call them? How does the filth week in week out come back at the death whilst we seem to constantly give up big leads and make stupid decisions at the death? They are mentally weak!People need to stop calling players mentally weak, it really is poor form.
It easy to be critical, with the Pies surge in full swing, applying massive pressure, the G was in pandemonium a very young inexperienced player is prone to fade or overreacted .The worst part about this loss was going into the last quarter 24pts up and 100% knowing that we would throw it away.
It must kill Voss to sit on the sidelines and watch shrinking violets run around.
It's gonna haunt him. He had Fish inside 50 on his own 15m away as well, screaming. Fish knew we needed just one point.
the posts bagging players and looking at 1-2 moments in the game onlyetc. I think we are going to struggle to come back from this mentally (the players that is, but also Carlton supporters until the finals are over)Really? It feels like group therapy to me. It’s comforting to know you’re not alone in your pain and misery.

Like a lot of things in footy, if you do it and do it well then all good but when you stuff up then you open yourself to criticism

I’m hoping that too, also we need our list cleaned up very urgent, a few vital pieces missing.Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance.
See you in trade week. Our year will attract some important individuals to plug some role gaps.
Go Blues.
Because you knew it was gonna happen.Hurt slightly less than last week. But still hurt.
For sure sucks that we have done the hard work to win these final 2 games and given them away but we weren't winning the flag this year anyway.Yep, let’s forgive the weakness and ineptitude and move on. Nothing to see here … except for accepting mediocrity.
I asked the same thing in 95 when we lost to the bottom two teams (our only losses for the season). Even after we won the premiership by not losing another game that season we lamented those losses Different times but the cries of anguish never change. The one thing that has changed for me is I'm more able to put things like losing footy games into perspective these days. How can we do it 2 weeks in a row…
