Was pretty handy in the dying seconds last week
On the basis of the most hilarious defensive effort I've seen from a collective unit in ages. When the contest was truly there to be won, he did little to positively affect the outcome. So eventually getting on the end of a horrendous blunder by a bunch of opposition players didn't massively change my view of what was another relatively ordinary game from him.

Reads like satire
Reads like 'I had an idea for an article before the game, and then the whole thing blew up in my face. Still, what else do I have to go with now? Might as well double down on my preconceived (and ill-conceived) notion of what was going to be pivotal to the outcome of this match. What's the worst thing that could happen?'

Well, precisely what you came up with, Riles. A completely risible take on what was manifestly one of the most anonymous performances any star of the game has ever trotted out in a big final, thereby making you look like a rank amateur in the journalistic stakes.

Abysmal.

Daniher's missus is giving birth so he's out tonight. We'll be playing the Dees next week.

Meanwhile I'm old enough to have sung God save the King for my first few weeks in primary school!
It will take me a while to get used to God Save the King after so long with the previous version.

I've seen some shambolic articles written about footy in the past. But this abomination from Riley B. about Franklin's 'game-changing' influence on the Swans QF triumph truly has to be seen to be believed.

7 possessions, 2 kicks, 1 mark, 1 tackle. If these had been Rohan's stats on the weekend, there would have been an article, for sure. But it would have been vastly different to this alternative reality that Riley is inviting us all to inhabit with him.

Complete nonsense.
There was something similar written about Jamie Elliot in part of an article last week - maybe AFL.com.au's 5 talking points?

It basically said he had 7 touches and a goal but looked like he could break the game open at any point. When in reality he did a couple of nice things but had around as much influence as Hawkins. Whereas the bloke matched up on him at times Bews - actually did affect the play in important ways several times. And had a far better game. But Elliot "looked dangerous". Okay.

What were your thoughts on Jamie Elliot? The player I was talking about.

or i am crazy or was Hawkins game better on replay? It wasn't 'great' but at least he put a body in the way to give space to others, a couple of GA, a ruck chop outs.

As compared to say Buddy who let May be almost bog in a loss lol.
Yeah he was ok, I was the same. Buddy looked like he had engaged IDGAF mode, or maybe IAJTG mode.

Maybe OT but I've always thought the three tatt kings from the Woods I would welcome at the Cats - Elliot, JDG and Howe (maybe 5 years ago).

Elliot looked dangerous to me. Always seemed to be in dangerous positions just didn't use the ball very well

Even Close had a better game.

Elliot missed just one he should have, then had a couple of efforts from the boundary. If you get 7 touches you have to use the ball well or you lost your position.

There's no good in selling Elliot as dangerous after the fact. Too late now.
It reminds me of my local Dymocks store, at 9.30 this morning had a massive front window display of
HRH Queen Liz books going on.

Gawn's tap work is scary... So worried about Stanley going up against him.

When we recruited Ceglar I thought he would be ahead of Stanley, but injury cost him that chance.

Ceglar has more grunt than Stanley in tight and isn't the type to be monstered by other rucks.

Still think we will roll with Stanley and if he lets us down again it'll be so disappointing, but not a shock.

That said, the worst of Rhys is better than the best of Darcy Fort…
