Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
I wonder if Corbett from the Suns could transition into a good third tall/ intercepting defender. Absolute buckets for hands that guy.
I was thinking - taking whiteface to a new levelCan’t believe people are still doing black arm. I am outraged

Nope. But most teams will make an offer even if it's low balling them and almost ensures the player leaves. We have to make an offer to get compensation don’t we?
There are multiple list lodgements and we can hold a player on the list until final list lodgements, but it's regarded as poor form to delist someone at that point - the Saints did it a few years ago to a fringe player and it was a pretty dick move, because it's actually after the drafts, etc, so it really limits their chance to find a new home.If we don’t make an offer it’s just a delisting.

Even if we don't make an offer to a FA (which it sounds like we have in Gardiner's case), we can retain them on the list after the initial lodgement and if they exercise their FA rights we will still get compensation. If they're unsigned in that period and instead get delisted (due to the lack of a contract offer) then we'll get no compensation.
It's all pretty academic - most clubs will make an offer to a looming FA, even if it's a trivial one. Similarly a FA who gets any interest is going to use the first FA period, not wait until he's delisted, and as such will always generate compensation (pending the compensation formula).
I cant stand reading them. Im not even sure this makes any sense at all. Yet people eat it up every weekGod he just finds more and more ways to drift away from the proper Sliding Doors concept.
I'm not sure anyone eats it up. What is the alternative? He has the main gig on AFL media, so most will click on any article that might involve their club at a minimum.I cant stand reading them. Im not even sure this makes any sense at all. Yet people eat it up every week
There hasn't been a comprehensive calendar including all the list lodgement dates published for last year and this year. It used to be very clear there were at least three - one before free agency, one after trading, and one after the draft. Key dates for AFL draft, list lodgement suggests there's at least four now. Players can be delisted at any but generally it's at the first two.I’ve had a quick search for delisted free agency signing period from last year, but couldn’t piece all the dates dogether. So there is a list lodgment period, where we can sign a DFA after the draft ?
Could this be a strategy from the club? Delaying Gardiner signing potentially opening up an additional list spot for point generation, we then sign him after the draft as a DFA ?
Yeah but he has nice soft handsHe is a terrible writer.
Not usually one to look on opposition trade boards but though I’d have a quick look on the doggies board to see what the thoughts on Dunkley were. First suggested trade I saw was Lohmann, Wilmot and a first for Dunkley and their last couple picks. I’m a massive fan of Dunkley but if that’s a fair value trade we’re getting the next 3 time Brownlow medalist.

You would hope.I haven't been over there to that board but surely that is an outlier and not the standard discussion.

Are they giving us Naughton with Dunkley? You would hope.
See Hugh’s name come up as well
We are generally fair when trading but there is no way we will give up required (or in McCluggage’s case, better) players.
Pretty much, those two guys have shown they’re definitely worth the picks we used as well.Essentially 3 first round picks![]()
They weren’t all like that, was just the first trade I saw. I think most people would expect two of either this years, next years first and the McStay compo (assuming it’s band 2) with maybe a couple later points coming back our way. That’s never going to feel like enough from a Dog’s perspective as they’re giving up a very good player but that’s roughly what it’ll end up being imo.I haven't been over there to that board but surely that is an outlier and not the standard discussion.
Nah I won’t stand for this Gardiner slander. Yeah he’s been down this year, but you’re talking as if that’s his entire career.
People forget how good he is, the reason Harris was able to float and intercept so effectively in 2019/2020 was because Gardiner was good enough to pick up the slack left by Harris leaving his man. As a system it worked perfectly.
Last year was a write off because he was injured most of it, but worth noting the game he initially came back in down at metricon he was playing out of his skin before then doing his shoulder again.
He has the talent, he’s proven he has the talent, he’s probably still just not 100% since his injury ridden 2021. His last two weeks have looked promising, if he gets back to where he was we ABSOLUTELY want to keep him.
A fit Darcy Gardiner is best 22.
