And what if we finish below Carlton…

That would be stupid.

I feel it’s a stupid move either way tbh.

If it’s this year it’s not a great move by Carlton.

If it’s next year there’s a risk for either team. Not impossible either team finishes top four. Not impossible either team misses the eight.

I’d say there’s more involved than a future third but it might be a swap of fourth rounders this or something like that. Feared something like this would happen tbh. Carlton were never giving us pick 28 for Acres. It was just whether they were going to give us a future second or not.

Is a 3 place downgrade from 10 to 13 that bad for Carlton though?

Might be enough to save our F1 from a Jackson trade, I just have this feeling our 1st pick in 2023 will be earlier than our pick 13 this year.

Gibbs, #77, future 2nd, future 3rd for #10, #16, #73 and future 2nd
i mean, Adelaide doing trades like this makes me understand why they their supporters want to extort everyone on every single trade

Truly one of the worst trades of all time, he played 37 games for them...

Not a lot of detail in the claim centring around a future third. Would not be surprised if we also do a swap of first round picks with that third

I misread your post the first time, thought you said a swap of future firsts.

Pick 10 and a future 3rd
Acres and pick 13.

Closer to the mark in my head.

I wouldn’t care if Logue sat in the 2s next year as backup key defender. That would be good for freo. I think he would inevitably get into the 22 anyway somewhere just like he did all this season.
Some of you seem to think you can only have 23 afl level mature players on the list and the 24th player onwards should be a developing kid.
Thats fine at the likes of north or hawthorn or Adelaide but That’s not how it works at the top sides. Do we want to be a top aide at any point?
Geelong had at the weekend:
Sam menegola
Brandon Parfitt
Jon Ceglar
Luke Dalhaus
Shaun Higgins
Ratugolea

All sitting in the stands at the opening bounce. They would all get a game at several other clubs every week. Some of those guys have played 200 afl games!

When the emergency was needed, they were able to bring in Mark O connor who’s played nearly 100 games and slotted in seamlessly. Not to mention players like Shannon Neale, Cooper Stephens, and some of those second round picks they took last year.
They weren’t relying on a child to play in a GF with 8 games to his name because all their mature players went to bottom 6 clubs.
Fair enough. That would be Plan A for me too.

There are only two flaws with what you suggest (and I would prefer):

1. Logue doesn't want to play WAFL. He wants to play AFL.

2. Given the offers he received elsewhere, if we paid him enough to stay but then kept him in the magoos it would be a terrible waste of valuable cap space.

If they get two firsts then it has to be 13 and F1. Otherwise we're paying 13, F1, AND F2 for Jackson. No way that's worth it.

WCE out of the picture means Melbourne will have to accept unders
That’s what it will be, might get 32 or a F2 & something late back but It will be 2 firsts. 8 & F1 is about right if they after offering 900k a season TBH

Hopefully F1 is 16-18 next year

If we trade a future second, we can't trade a future first.

So if it's #13 and F2 for #8 then it has to be #8 by itself or #8 and F3, F4 etc

Can't be F1 without them sending us a F2 back.
Freo will have plenty of F2 come in, Logue… maybe acres. Melbourne might give one back? Don’t think AFL will have a problem with it

#8 and F3 is pretty close to Cerra's trade last year.

And if we get it done early then we can trade the Logue, Acres, Lobb, Meek and Tucker stuff to pad out our picks.

All true until we find a F2 from somewhere else.

The trading of Logue for a F2 would open that possibility back up again, although my preference would be to trade that selection rather than our F1.

Cerra wasn’t offered 900k too.

I agree it’s a lot but think will be 8 & F1 for Jackson & F2

I’m more then happy to be wrong but think that’s what it will be
