How tf is trading Darcy going to help us? We get pantsed in the ruck when he doesn't play. So solution is to get pantsed in the ruck more regulalry?
How about we actually train up a proper ruck and give him an extended run rather than an overweight, unfit player who is always injured?

We lose because Jackson isnt a first choice ruck and dont play a proper ruck replacement. Pretty simple.

No good in having the worlds best ruck if hes always injured

People are more angry at Darcy who didn't play than Jackson, who did very little yet again. Jackson ever going to receive criticism and accountability on this board?

I agree Jackson definitely can and should be doing more
has seemingly stalled in his development.
But he’s alot more available for selection than Darcy ever is and it’s actually counting for more

The answer is to put Sean Darcy on ice as soon as the season is over, fix him up and he ready to run in preseason so he can be a brute with a tank by end of March.

Do the exact same thing with the other two.
Knobel genuine forward/ruck.
Reidy toc good for wafl, seems a similar story to Meek?
Knobel can do Jackson’s role in the forward line. Jackson can then become the
best utility in the AFL.

Why have rucks on our list if we refuse to play them. Tabs selection has me scratching more than my head
idiots running the show , was Johno any better today than Ras last week (dropped because of lack of pace i assume) or Brodie who cant even get a chance

The dude needs to lose about 6/7 kg, if he can't do that then he isn't professional enough and we should be evaluating our options. His dieting needs to start now. Especially if we are paying him big bucks to stay at Freo.

Brodie not being selected at all this year is absolute bullshit. Fair enough if he was 30+ but he is 25! We need a solid strong mid in there that doesn’t get pushed off the ball. He could easily replace 2-3 of our current mids

How Taberner got selected over someone like Reidy has me so confused today!!

Can someone please also tell me why our defence was trying to Stat paddle a lot today instead of just going forward!!

Those abysmal commentators kept reminding us that we have let 5 × 3/4 time leads slip into losses.
For any normal, young team that means top 4 next year.
But, as an inaugural supporter I feel we will break the mould & finish out of the 8 next year.
Thank Flock i don't get as high for wins nor as low for losses any more with this team

We need guys that can change angles and direction.

Warner, Bolton and Baler all fit that brief.

Too many straight line players especially in front half.
A Bolton and baker package looking more attractive by the week - guys who have played in a successful side and might give us the poise we sorely lack right now

If you want to think about a season wasted due to close losses, think about the condition Sean Darcy was in during the offseason. I don’t care if you’ve had multiple ops, I get it, that sucks, never saw Fyfe look like this. Have some ****ing discipline.

Try to stay in shape when you can't get on your feet. Fyfe was a ****ing stick when he came into the club. Darcy was already big. Surprise surprise, different people are built differently.

Just consider that Taberner might actually be more athleticly capable than Reidy at the moment.
As one can't even bend over, I doubt it. Reidy was involved in a lot of transition today. He was kicking into the forwardline often. Sometimes after receiving forward hand passes from mids.

You can swim or row and not drink a **** load of bevvies.

How bout adhering to a professional diet as a professional athlete? So many athletes get injuries all the time, they don’t blow out like Darcy. He’s not even strong at the moment, gets pushed around and flops to the floor, can’t run either. The knee is absolutely bothering him but the club trying to push him through to the end of season, probably to get surgery in the offseason. No doubt he’ll hit 120kg again and next year will be rooted too. He’s done this merry go round for 2 years, rinse and repeat.

Nah, at this stage it's all on him. If he prepared like Brayshaw or Serong did he'd have a couple of AA jackets by now. If your body is different, be stricter on your diet

And you think he doesn't? Darcy isn't blowing out. He's literally been at this weight for his entire career. He won a b&f at this weight. You really think he's had that b&f season and then decided to throw all professionalism out the window?

Do you have any direct information that says he doesn't? Because unless you do I think it's incredibly harsh to be making these assumptions about him. Mf didn't even play today yet suddenly everything is his fault.

Just consider that Taberner might actually be more athleticly capable than Reidy at the moment.
The explanation JL gave had relatively little to do with Tabs vs Reidy fwiw (and if that was the big factor, it's strange that Reidy flew over last week and Tabs didn't). It was basically broken down to 3 factors:
  1. JL was pretty confident Darcy would play
  2. Tabs was chosen as the holdover over Reidy because Taberner is maturer, so I suppose could handle that spot better
  3. He believed Jackson would give us the best opportunity against Geelong rucks out of all non-Darcy options available
Reason 1 seems like bs given what we now know, but he's the closest to it I guess. Reason 2 was probably not meant to be a shot at Reidy, but either way we're at the point in the season where you play your best players and hold over your best option to hold over.

Reason 3, even if true (somewhat difficult to assess) requires believing that the gap in impact btwn Jackson and Reidy rucking is bigger than the gap btwn Jackson and Tabs fwd + Jackson and Voss as the 2nd ruck. Even without the first 2, that seems like a reason that was questionable at the time, feels worse in hindsight, and JL virtually conceded Tabs didn't work when he subbed him off for a basic defender in a close game (even with Tabs playing awfully, this was the wrong call, though Worner sub in general was the wrong call).
