If GWS are asking any more than a 3rd rounders we should just take Narkle for free. Similar stats but Narkle averaged half the amount of game time.

Can't be handing over higher picks than the ones that got Lipinski or Kreuger

I think we should play Mitchell at full forward. A 30 possession a game full forward would be a sensation.

You get 0 out of 10 for statutory interpretation. Why? Because you were too lazy to go to the actual rule, in Annexure D of the CBA. “Including” isn’t included. And even if it was, you would probably want “including but not limited to”. “In relation to each of” is pretty specific.

Here is the relevant part of Annexure D. Read it and come back with another try.

So, the wording: ... on identical terms to the offer in relation to.... the contract length..

The contract length on the offer is an unconditional 5 years.
The matching is on a term of 5 years on the condition/s of....xxxx
That doesn't seem to be matching the length of the contract on identical terms?

Apparently, these are the top 10 players on the open market:

10. Nick Daicos (Collingwood)

“I think for the future he will have and the versatility that he provides, he’s at number 10.”

9. Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs)

“I just love him as a player, love his leadership, he’s 26. If you could get seven or eight years of Marcus Bontempelli what an asset he would be.”

8. Sam Darcy (Western Bulldogs)

“At the same club, and he’s unproven, but I’m so excited about him – Sam Darcy. He’s listed at 205cm, but the Bulldogs people are telling me he’s now 210cm.”

“We’ve already seen across half back, up forward, this time next year he could easily be the number one player on this index.”

7. Christian Petracca (Melbourne)

“Similarly to Bontempelli he’s in the prime of his career, what an asset he could be.”

6. Clayton Oliver (Melbourne)

“Similar reasons, he’s ahead because he’s a year younger than Petracca. He’s got 10 years left in him. If he was on the open market what an asset he would be.”

5. Shai Bolton (Richmond)

“I think at times this year he looked like the best player in the competition. He’s 23, he’s versatile, can play in the centre bounce, up forward, he’s a nightmare of a matchup so he is there at number five.”

4. Harry McKay (Carlton)

“Key forwards, we’ve seen they’re still the most valuable commodity in the game. If you don’t have one, you’re going to find it very hard to win the premiership.”

3. Sam De Koning (Geelong)

“Just pencil him in for 10 to 12 years at half back. I love his composure. He’s not afraid to play on the best players. He can intercept and do all of that, but takes the opposition’s best player every week in just his third year of football.”

2. Max King (St Kilda)

“Similar reasons as Harry McKay. What an athlete he is. I don’t think St Kilda have done him the best service.”

1. Charlie Curnow (Carlton)

“I think he’s the most valuable asset on any list right now.”

I love how SEN has Nick Daicos (the Rising Star) behind Sam Darcy (who seems to have grown an awful lot from 201cm). How is Max King even remotely close to Daicos' ability? Shai Bolton and SDK are good but Daicos is better. This list is funny for the wrong reasons.

Lol. You're all so scared of being labelled racist you skip the point. Nah I must be wrong. No stereotyping in here.
You’re accusing posters of stereotyping based on race… yes, that’s totally different…
Totally legitimate comparison. Play on. Same position too.
Yet Hill to Bolton isn’t…? They move the same, started their careers in the same position, both were classy mids as juniors who were predicted to start forward and move to the midfield as they matured. But no, that’s a “stereotype”!

That was sarcasm. Comparing Stack to Stengle or hill is laughable. Hill to Bolton as I said has validity as he does with many other fast emerging small forwards. But it's not the only comparison made.

The matching can only occur after an RFA offer has been tabled by St.Kilda/JDG.

Don’t struggle, just surrender to the darkness.

The list clearly values talls more highly than smalls. Which might be right? But in that context, I don't know how Darcy Moore hasn't made that list.

How’s this for one of the worst proposed trades?
We should pull the shutters down and turn off the light if anything like this went through.

lol what

If we were giving up De Goey AND Henry, we'd need at least one top 10 pick back at MINIMUM.

I saw a proposed trade earlier with the 2 guys who wanna go to Richmond. It was horribly one sided towards Richmond. Bet if those 2 guys choose Collingwood it would be 4 first rounders for them.

I'm not struggling... Far from it.

I understand that the offer has to be submitted to the AFL, signed by the player and the offering the club first. Otherwise, there is no offer.., and no need for matching.

The question is, what constitutes matching? Terms and restrictive conditions relating to the length of contract is not the same as matching an offer of a length of contract that is unconditional.
