List Mgmt. 2022 AFL Draft & Rookie Draft

Lemmey was a top prospect this time last year - talked about in the top 5. His 2022 hasn't been great, and he's been falling. So yes, he's still at 25 on my list, but wouldn't be surprised to see him fall lower. If he goes that high, it's likely to Port or Adelaide.

Note - my rankings are calculated, I'm not a draft guru by any means. I pull data from a number of sources and assign a point value to each, and rankings are done by points.
Still a great resource mate. I didn’t know half these kids. Kudos to you.

So if he drops to 29, why not us?

Thanks! Much appreciated.

Here's what ModernArtillery says about him on the Draft board (MA is SA-based, and go-to draft guru for SA kids):
15. Harry Lemmey
Unfortunately there's not a great deal of positives to take out of this year for Lemmey. From what I've been told, I'm not sure he was particularly well supported in the State set-up, which could explain why he was spat out devoid of any confidence. I'll continue to evaluate him on his whole body of work and with that comes some pretty impressive football as a bottom-ager. I still view him as the most talented KPF in the pool and I desperately hope he captures that 2021 form again.

Take from that what you will, but it seems there is more going on with Lemmey than just on-field performance. Have a look also at the RMC summary. Clearly has a lot of talent, and will get drafted at some point.

There's a lot of data showing older kids (in the year level) do better (not only in sport).
Yep, and those born in January to March in particular. Reason is they are bigger and get picked in rep sides and exposed to better coaching and don’t get bashed around and leave the sport disheartened like smaller and less developed counterparts….we do this research.

Mate - you’re all good in my book. Even quoting outside sources, top stuff.

Reading that summary. That’s a Steven Oliver moment. I’d have a serious crack, just as I did when Jack Martin was available. Talent doesn’t go, brain cells do though. Give him a professional environment and a hard ass like Voss, maybe he’ll come around. People screaming for a hybrid Ruck/Fwd (though I think TDK will take this league by the scruff of the neck). We could have a gun in the making. Pick 29 all day, even if we take Hayes at 10. The kid can play.

Aph, do I get a card for quoting myself?

Anyway, Rankine was the same, awesome 16 potential but shaky 18’s, but it’s also like an injury scenario too. I give you Cripps, Kemp and even Judd, who all dropped, and for the same reason why I’d take George, even at 10, go on shown potential over armchair keyboard potential.

Yes, for those asking, Johnny Black X 3. Bathurst day is cool. Baaaaaaaaaaaa!!

I don't know, I get a bit nervous at AFL level when KPPs don't have a bit of sh*t on the liver

Ive seen Arrow talk of Lemmey falling for, other reasons and now you have him at 25 but think he might fall further. I remember last year he was being spoken of very highly.

Can you give the why? Why has he fallen, what are these other reasons, if he’s a big talent, what’s the issue?

Can anyone actually just say what the issues with Lemmey are? If he is/was such a great talent then if he’s there at 29 take him. Wasn’t this the same reason a Jack Darling slid so far on draft night?

Has talent but didn't have a very good year - as in looked a fair way removed from being up to the standard.
Question marks over how badly he wants it.

Honestly, it scares me off when I read this about talls.

I remember back in early 2015 when I had us drafting Harry in the third round and was met with a lot of "who?" I had a feeling that his stock was about to soar and come draft time sure enough he was near the top of the pops.

When I read the opposite happening with young talls it scares me off. It makes me wonder if it's been a case of him being a man amongst boys. As his teammates and opponents start to mature and develop the development just isn't the same for some of these kids and thus others fly past them.

This should be the time when stock rises like it did for Harry (testing results meet or exceed the eye tests, etc.) and so many other young talls who become successful.

Red flags for me.

I'm super confident that we will trade into this draft. Either up, or into.

We have hit the Go button and the more we dally, the less players we will have READY for our flag push which is starting NOW. I think we will trade forward for the next 2 years.

I can absolutely see us trading our future 1st to get up the order from Pick 10. Or if we can't achieve that(which is very difficult to get done), then trading it for another 1st this year(again, if possible).

Get the best quality we can, in NOW. The Sheezal rumour from Forty3 makes all the sense in the world. IF we can do it. 10 and future 1st in a heartbeat. He is the type/quality we need who can impact almost immediately. That Premiership class medium forward. Missing link for OUR team.

These articles and by extension the AFLs reporting on draftees are turd, why can you only see the top 3 of a few tests? Trying to find stats on the players as well is too difficult.

What speed by Allen, not for anyone but a guy of his size is great, so I then want to see where he places in agility and 2km but no, can’t find that.

It should be easy to find all this data.

Where does Allen’s game translate at AFL level?
