Quite bullish on what he can do for our midfield. Ive got him best 22 in the centre already. I think he could be in most centre bounce and stoppage combinations as the defensive mid to balance us out

No wing but keep him as lean as he needs to be for peak running power. He's big enough to play inside mid already which was proven late this year

I’ve watched Setterfield throughout his career and he’s a decent inside mid. He’s not going to be our inside bull unless he throws everything in. Seems to play better when he’s backed in and has played his best when utilised to his advantages.

My wife was wanting my young bloke to play for Scoresby,( coll jumpers) it was a very short conversation.
My young bloke's club has black and white stripes, I know bad parenting right!
Their club song is based on the pies too, still makes me shudder a ittle on the inside when they get a win

windyhill.

Scoresby's close to where I live.

Closest to where I live with a guernsey matching the one Setterfield will wear next season is Emerald.
I'm in The Patch.

Setters should be a good pick up. I was disappointed to lose him but understand why we let him go. His career would have petered out at Carlton. Whilst we probably thought he was worth more than we got in the trade, we let him go as he would have played more twos than ones.

That's not to bag him. He is an inside midfielder and we just didn't play him there. Why? Cripps and Kennedy are two reasons. Getting Hewett from Sydney (as the defensive mid) was his death knell. He would never beat out Cripps for the middle. Kennedy got the nod as he can go forward and is probably better by foot. Hewett can play a role in defence.

Setters is pretty much a one trick pony. Inside mid. He can offer a role on the wing but he is not ideally suited to it. He played most of his footy with us on the wing. It was a waste. He is not a forward. He might be able to play off HBF but lacks pace and is not a great kick.

Too often people focus on what guys can't do though. He is a serviceable kick, but tends to float it in the air a bit. Ok pace, not quick. An accumulator of the football rather than a devastator with his use. None of these are bad things. His distribution by hand is good. He marks pretty well over his head. Good in traffic and can find the pill. Can do some special things (there is a clip of a pick up and blind turn against Adelaide I think that shows this).

I reckon Setters will be a very good footballer if allowed to play to his strengths. Inside the centre square. He is not bad defensively but is better if left to get the ball. For his sake I hope he starts in the ones and gets a run at it. He should give some balance and allow your runners to flourish.

I think he will be handy in some game's, frustrating in most.
Just hoping Will contributes positively more times than not.

It's going to be an interesting ride.

The last games he played this year indicate he could really challange for a primary ball winning role in the middle.

However, if he is going to compliment what we have it's probably not going to be as a ball winner, it would be as a more defensive mid.

I dont think we're going to see massive numbers from Setterfield but that will not likey reflect his importance.
