So Bowes will have his pay approximately halved, lets say Geelong spread out the 1.6M over 4 years or whatever they're saying (exact time is a guess). Is that right?

Lol, hell no, surely not. Who'd go for that? I'm thinking more along the lines of 2.2 to 2.4 over 4 years.

You'd be better off just playing VFL for the Suns for two years & getting 1.6Million otherwise.

I can't believe this 'can't register a trade until late on the last day' stuff. Seriously, who apart from die hards is following this on Fox Footy or whatever? The difference (between this and not doing it) would have to be miniscule surely.

I’ve heard it’s the highest traffic week/day of the year. I agree it seems a bit OTT but you have advertisers in place and you need a reason for people to tune in to the last few hours.

It's probably safer for you to remain on our boards for a while ;)
I love the club but I just try and be realistic. Would love 2 top 10 picks for Dunkley but that is just fantasy land. He has given the club great service, has played in a premiership and GF so it would be unfair on him if he ended up in the PSD.

Yeah I don’t understand. I’m just trying to understand how it works, because the way people explain it was like oh you smooth 1.6 out over 4 instead of 2. Seemed rough on Bowes

The weird part of all this is that clubs have to understand that trading is done each and every year. Clubs don’t forget if you were an ass one year in regards to haggling. All clubs would be aware of this.

There was no trade unless Bowes was happy with it. He was contracted. He pretty much had the most powerful position in the whole scenario.

Jack Gunston goals in the last 5 rounds of 2022

5 North, 1 Stk, 5 Suns, 2 Tigers, 4 Dogs

Below his 5 v North

None of those teams have great defenders let’s hope he does great against Melbourne Geelong and Collingwood those are the teams he needs to kick goals against

So if Dunks doesn’t happen I don’t really see it hurting the Lions Robertson comes in with Ashcroft Berry showed what he can do when getting full minutes inside

It'll happen.

What a bizarre way to run the club.

No wonder Dunkley wants to get away as quickly as possible.
Lucked into a premiership courtesy of the umpires, otherwise the Dogs would be up there for all-time poorly ran clubs. It's not a surprise really.

Just the fact that Bevo is still at the helm says it all. I don't dislike the Dogs, I think they have every right to play hard ball for a star player wanting out but they're not a well run club and speaks volumes as to why Dunkley wants out in the first place.

Don't expect much. If he was truly decent he'd be playing VFL, GFL, Eastern Football League, Ovens & Murray or Bendigo League (among others) which are superior to EDFL. He may be serviceable at VFL level but don't be surprised if he doesn't shoot the lights out.

If I was a betting man, this is purely to keep Cam happy. I wouldn't be surprised if having his brother on the books was part of Cam's overall package.

He must have been truly decent then, I guess.

Essendon 2022 VFL squad locked in

Essendon has locked in its VFL list on the eve of its 2022 campaign.

Led by new coach Brent Stanton and captain Joe Atley, the VFL Bombers have bolstered their playing stocks with some new arrivals and key re-signings.

Former Essendon AFL players Shaun McKernan (53 games) and Ben Jolley (four) will don the sash again, with the latter in a player-coach role, while versatile midfielder Will Golds will bring AFL experience despite not making his League debut during his time at Hawthorn.

The Bombers have bolstered their defence with the acquisitions of third tall Max Simpson and attacking defender Joel Fitzgerald, while key-position player Lockie Rayner, the brother of Brisbane star Cam Rayner, has been signed.

Either way, he will be playing VFL next year (if that still counts) !! :smirk:

Is Sam Power Luke Power's brother or am I thinking of someone else?
