No he didn’t. I had very good intel, which I posted prior to his announcement that he wanted to come to Port. Make no mistake we did everything right in terms of keeping in contact etc. Give credit where credit is due.
No club is throwing millions at dunkley, Grundy as a smokescreen

Yes Jhf wanted to come home, but the opening this year only eventuated after dunkleys deal fell through.

I must have watched a different player. Are you talking about his nature in a general sense? I’ve been watching him in games and he seems to have a decent appetite for the contest and reminds me of Shaun when he would occasionally play back pocket on the really tricky small forwards and wouldn’t give them an inch.
Since he first played at the Magpies in 2021, he has always played a bit like a shy kid. He will cleanly win contests like his uncle did and get some cheap ball around the field, and when those times come he just does it. However the timidness and lack of confidence is written all over him in those times when he is not thrust into it.

I can't wait to see him bursting out of defence, demanding the footy, confidently sagging off for intercept marks backing his reading of the play. It'll all come, I have no doubt. He'll be an outstanding half back, he just has an obvious timid streak which is no surprise, nor an issue, for a skinny 18 year old.

Hopefully anyone but us.

Wonder if Port's new strategy is to have all the running HBF's in the AFL, that way weakening everyone else... :$
You would think he's Ablett the way everyone is fallen over themselves, visiting every venue, meeting coaches etc. Stay in Vic please.

He's sure as hell a better footballer than Francis Evans, I'll give him that. He's AFL quality. I just don't think he's really a need and I don't want him scuppering Burgoyne's development.

If he can be Cat B rookied that's ok.

Don't want to use up a primary list spot at the expense of a young draftee.
I bet you that if he wants to go back to Essendon the AFL will allow him to be a cat B rookie but not if he chooses us.
