You know if West Coast does draft Allen then they should rename the Glendinning–Allan Medal to the Allan medal. Cause there is a family that is connected to both Freo and West Coast. Rather than randomly having it be the inaugural captan of both teams just cause the WAFC jumped the gun in naming it the Glendinning medal.

The Dale Kickett cup or GTFO

(If we are going with players who have played for both clubs)

Naming the cup after the guy who is most famous for punching a bunch of West Coast players is something I can get behind. Although I imagine the powers that be at the club are a bit mad at him for going after the money makers lol.

With the AFL announcing that there will be a festival of football, Aussie rules, that is, being played in round five in 2023, with games being played at suburban grounds and some country venues, it will be interesting to see just who are the AFL favourites.
I am thinking that Fremantle will be out bush somewhere. But one can only hope that the draw is fair for all.

Someone mentioned Barossa Valley

You could almost put money on Freo having a minimum of a 2 hour bus trip on top of our flight before playing North in front of 500 people in some remote backwater joint.

Big Melbourne clubs will have prime time games at Adelaide oval and bitch about having to travel an extra time during 2023.

Most of the venues being considered are quite close, with a few exceptions.
But hey if you want to be a victim go ahead 🎻

I get posters not liking the magic but I quite like getting actual football games out into the regions. Not just preseason stuff.
I don't mind it seeing as it won't affect 98% of our supporter base but jeez im thinking of flying in for the round and if Freo are in bum**** nowhere then that severely limits any other games i can attend that day (plan would be multiple if im spending up to go over there + want to be near the city for a night out after)

All good, but a pretty self centered view of the concept. Another year and it's going to be hosted in WA and I think would be tremendous.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's hosted in WA before literally everywhere/anywhere else in Australia first.

It's still close enough to Melbourne that the time taken to fly Perth to Adelaide is only roughly half the time it takes to drive Melbourne to Adelaide.
I don't see any real benefit for it being hosted in Perth (or Adelaide for that matter). Should have been in Qld or NSW to keep driving interest in those States.

Those two states and Tasmania are where I expect it to be for the rest of time.

We should be thankful that the Victorian clubs are finally on equal burden with us having to travel that extra game. Except the ones that are compensated with an extra home game for the burden.

What's the status of Football Park in Adelaide these days? Has it gone the same way as our Subi Oval? It seriously shits me that Tassie, NSW and QLD have more footy grounds capable of hosting AFL matches than WA. Which is why I ask about SA.

Its currently the Crows training ground but is surrounded by apartments and businesses - certainly couldn't host an AFL game. I believe the Crows are moving soon.
