Warner makes 200 then retires with heat stroke? Made enough runs to retain his spot then has enough.

I am overly cynical of Warner because so think he’s a giant campaigner though.
Did you watch the innings?

He could barely walk when he went off. Huge effort.

I didn’t watch all that f todays play but from what I saw Warner (and Smith) had to work hard for their runs. The South Africans through Nortje and Jansen bowled some very good spells but they lacked support from the other bowlers

On another day both those guys have 3 or more wickets each to their name

I’m all for a good Warner bashing but that was a good innings his flogging milestone celebrations notwithstanding

Hardie would be good choice but hasn’t his shield form been down this year?

Would have to be the next choice for the all-rounder spot if Green is not fit for the New Years' test given his previous form. This season he hasn't hit his straps as much, averaging 26.84 with the bat and 43.71 with the ball. Hardie was player of the Match though against Queensland in the match at the WACA, single handedly won the game for them.

Hardie played for Australia "A" earlier in the season and seems to be second in the queue for the all-rounder role. Competition may come from Will Sutherland or Michael Neser although those two are more bowling all-rounders which would the eleven short on batting.

Given Sydney is generally a spinning deck, you'd think they'd employ a second specialist spinner in place of one of the specialist seamers. Means someone like Swepson, Murphy or Agar could possibly get a gig with the all-rounder as the third seam option.

You must've seen the 2 good spells of the day; the majority of the bowling was rubbish. Not knocking Warner's 200 in those conditions but SA attack was very disappointing.

Green sidelined for home summer with broken finger

Cameron Green will not bowl in South Africa's second innings at the MCG and will miss the Sydney Test and the KFC BBL to recover in time for the India tour
