What is the chance of picking up tickets for Anzac day, as a non-member? Any suggestions on how best to try?
Hi there, from previous years, it's pretty tough getting general admission tickets (and for good reason, it's one of the best day's in sport in Australia) - one thing for sure, Ticketek will crash at some stage. I can't go to many games, so I've purchased two ANZAC day memberships - think they're still available, take a look at the club site, you get a reserved seat for the ANZAC Day game and GA entry into two other games.

Thankyou both for your reply. Short story is we need to plan ahead, spend an extra week in Melbourne to make this work so I am scared of missing out on the public tickets. The Anzac Day membership sounds awesome. It will be the first time my two children will see a Collingwood match, hopefully enough to cement a lifelong love.

Get there if you can and soak up the pre-match. The RSL/AFL/Essendon/CFC do such a good job of commemorating the deeds of those who have fallen - there's nothing like the hush around the packed MCG during the one minute silence and the Last Post is just an emotion wrenching moment - such a great day and not just for football

Feeling a bit of an idiot. Thought it was 18.90/adult to secure a ticket, realise it is $189 per year so $600 for the family, which is out of our budget. Better to miss this moment - coincidence we were passing through Melbourne near this time. Better we fly over from Tassie in 2024 for a less important - fans wise - game. I'd rather see us beat the blues than the mess the bombers are.
Might be safer not to get too attached to your kids until you know
I know. What chance to my kids have when the only time they see their father frothing at the mouth, yelling so loud our Tassie neighbouts a km away can hear. They know which way their bread is buttered. I wanted my kids to grow up loving the pies and also loving great football matches with huge crowds, particularly at the MCG. Price we have to pay for living on the forgotten south island.

Armenian/Lebanese immigrants. Are you kidding me. Best rock ever.

I know that I'm going to get hit by a million bricks on this but I'm nauseated at seeing the various links to stories about Nat Fyfe's mental health. Evidently, he dipped because he kept breaking down. Poor thing. I'm glad that he is telling his story. It must be an inspiration for other generally healthy millionaires out there surrounded by loved ones and friends who are fixated on relatively minor issues in their life.

I love system of a down. Brilliant.
Some time ago I was disappointed with some news stories that said they had banners at their concerts which read "no dogs or Turks allowed". Now them being Armenian I could understand their animosity towards Turks but this was a bit over the top.
Anyway it turns out that the whole story was BS. They never have had such banners at their concerts.
Sigh of relief on my part. I could continue loving them.

Lol
I hadn't paid much attention to them other than "chop suey".
Just getting into listening to their other songs now. Impressive.
Serj was into opera singing as well.

Anyway it's good to hear you live far away from all that devastation mate. 🍻

I just skimmed through the super bowl commercials and watched the scoring parts of the game. It's a shame for americans that they dont have a game of football that allows them to show any genuine excitement....and this was a good game compared to previous superbowls where I've left the building before half the game was finished.

I had to laugh that St. Kilda's Siposs could only kick the ball 40 yards and the Chiefs returned the ball more than that. Someone should have told his team that he was a Saints reject and you cant get much lower than that.....pre-ordained to choke....born to choke.... programmed to choke...

Great to see two black quarterbacks leading their teams. If more team owners had the guts years ago, they might have won a few more titles. I say that having not much knowledge of the game, but surely it must have helped Philly during the season that they had a quarterback who could run through a brick wall. All praise to the two best teams in the world and the world champions!!

It's not actually known at what stage of the year this photo was taken. While we did win the premiership in 1902 it's almost certain it was taken earlier in the season. Harry Pears played in the GF team, but isn't pictured here, and there are six players in the photo who weren't in the side (Monohan, E. Leach, Farrell, Boyack, Tame and Dow.

Wal Lee, the trainer, was a very well known figure in his own right, but probably best known for being the father of the mighty Dick Lee.

ottoman this is where i live. The food is pretty good. 🙏

Mark Wiens.
I'm a big fan of his.
He actually has a fantastic series of his travels in Turkey.

By the way I absolutely love Thai food. Unfortunately here in Turkey it is a bit hard to find good foreign foods.
Living in a multicultural country like Australia has many benefits and the variety of food on offer is one of them.
A benefit I really miss.
Don't get me wrong I live in Turkey and Turkish/Mediterranean food is insanely good, but sometimes it's nice to have something different.

Also made an animated film about him.
