So the players not named anywhere are:

Jones (achilles)
Ross (?)
King (shoulder)
Billings (leg)
Hayes (foot)
Membrey (knee)
Allison (foot)
McKenzie (?)
Hotton (back)
Keeler (knee)
McLennan (back)
Heath (?)

I've probably missed it but I can't remember why Ross, McKenzie, Heath are missing?
Ross & Dmac are calfs

Heath I think tweaked an ankle. But I’m not certain on this one.

Sharman will kick 14 off the bench

That's an extremely extensive injury list. :(

Got to wonder why so many get injured pre-season.

These practice games are really not worth the effort when our players go down in them.

If we get another quality player injured today, then the club seriously needs to look at preseason.

That's a bad sign. He was playing very attacking last week running off his man and playing a more Sinclair style role. Perhaps without the defensive side to his game though.

He wasn't impressive but he wasn't terrible either. You can only surmise that he failed to keep the zone intact or something.
Maybe it's a practice game and they're managing his load?
If you're seeing bad signs atm it's coz you're looking for them.

Our pre season was abit disjointed. Especially the older guys.

So they had to ramp up loads in early jan and obviously some are soft tissues due to that.

King obviously isn’t. Shit part was that he was on fire early doors. Really impressing Rossy with his work ethic.

95 % of the injuries happened before the practice game

Sorry Stav not sure how you ended up in my message

There were mutliple points to my comments.

If you listen to SaintsTV pod on the game, on similar lines to the risk of the practice games.

Players going in too hard at training must have some truth.

Have you ever actually played football before? Practice matches are incredibly important at every level and I would argue the afl is doing the players a disservice by reducing them down to 2 (technically one now).

Disagree. Injuries aren't the worst thing when we're trying to find out who our players are, it gives more chances to others who we might not have seen otherwise. I'd rather the players are working hard and occasionally breaking down rather than cruising and not improving.

AFL has stopped the pre-season cup, interstate competition, post season comp, exhibition games ... nearly everything outside the home and away season.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see these pre-season practice games gone by next season too.

Played sport all my life, including football and still undertake risk pastimes for the adrenaline rush. But these pre-season games are not worth the risk to our players and it proves nothing...

Tell me what we gained from the Melbourne game other than a media nosebleed and an injury to one of our best players.

Provided other teams are doing it we have to do it too as it gives a significant R1 advantage in match fitness strategy etc to teams that participate

I wouldn't be against it if the AFL decided to cancel them all together though.
