Assuming it is 22 + 1 sub, I hope to see:

FB: Wilkie, Howard, Webster
HB: Sinclair, Battle, Coffield
M: Hill, Crouch, Wood
HF: Gresham, Sharman, Phillipou
FF: Owens, Caminiti, Butler
R: Marshall, Steele, Windhager
Int: Ross, Clark, Byrnes, Bytel
Sub: Higgins
Em: Campbell, Cordy, Paton

Billings obviously injured, NWM I thought I heard was injured?,
Stocker, Cordy, Paton, Peris: wasnt that impressed with and I dont reckon should be in consideration for Rd.1
Van Es, Adams, Highmore, Heath: all played well but depth

Would have liked a way to give Campbell a run but has had very interrupted pre-season and given it is AFl structured not sure you can carry him in for this. Would prefer to give Sharman, Caminiti, Owens a go up fwd to see who plays Rd.1 as Cordy and Howard didnt impress against Melb.

Sub was between Higgins and Byrnes, thought Byrnes had a better game against Melb so gets the nod.

Nice side, still don't understand why Butler is an automatic start everytime though.

I'd replace him with Wood in the FWD line and put Paton on the wing.

Really easy to forget how prolific Butler was in 2020 given that he has been pretty invisible since.

Sure he’s a decent pressure forward but there’s just no “danger danger danger, butler butler butler” anymore. Hope he proves me wrong.

We’ll probably never see 2020 Butler again but he still does the defensive stuff in the forward line at a high level and there’s really nobody else capable of doing what he does in that regard, without him we’re probably the slowest forward line in the comp.

I just don't understand what he brings to the table, reminds me of Mav Weller. He brought pressure, blocking, leadership but hardly kicked a goal.

The Butler 2020 is a long distant memory when half the teams didn't even turn up to most games. Out the back was the way to play football cause no-one could be bothered chasing. The world was very different back then.

We only have Peris to bring in in his place. Haven't really chased small forwards.

Coaches are hell bent on not moving Battle forward even with all the injuries. Why not try it and get Coff in the back line
Agree, we have both Highmore and Coffield that play a similar role to Battle and Cordy as another tall

Surely we at least see how it goes tomorrow

Butler does need to get on the scoreboard a bit more- we were one of the lowest scoring teams last season, and it doesn't help the cause if your small forwards/ crumbers are not pro-active enough and just hanging out the back of contests.

Like the forward line, actually.

And the half back line.

Shame no coffield. Thought he was much better than 4/5 blokes that were named. Backing him to be in the best 23 this year
Lack of exposed form I suppose…

Always more than 4 on the pine in these games.

Disappointed that Oscar Adams didn't make it onto the bench. Thought he did enough at full back to get another look in.

Everyone else pretty much as expected.
Van Es a bit stiff too.
