I must say I enjoy my occasional trips to this board, you’re a funny bunch.

Rumour has it we are leaving Phillips out of the starting 22 and it got me thinking about the conditions on Saturday. For those that haven’t seen it’s going to be low 30’s and assuming the roof is closed it will be like an inferno inside marvel. I’m predicting clarko is going to prioritise run, as we aren’t great runners through the midfield anyway with Phillips and Powell young and years off their peak running ability, cunners who slowly waddles etc. I can see shiels, stevo playing full games. Unsure of how the conditions impact the call on Corr and zuhaar. It seems both will play but I could see them not playing Corr and risking an undersized defence.

I could be off here but it would seem like it would take a mighty effort for you guys to win this game playing 4 first gamers and a few senior players that have been managed a bit and not really prepared for round 1.

Goldy and Xerri should be a handful.

But it’s round 1 and we haven’t had much success in round 1’s. I think the bad run actually started against west coast in 2010, I’m sure there is a gif of brad Scott on hand. A heart breaking close loss with a late free kick paid and clarko losing it is probably what I should expect.

We’re a slow team aside from Hunt and our 2 most dynamic players are out. Not confident but we’ve thrown up some surprise round 1 games before. You’ll need to let the dream team board know that you’re leaving Phillips out btw.

I’m a bit obsessed with Culley for 2023, there I said it. Anyway I’ve been thinking there is a decent chance he is still actually in ripping nick and they may have backed him off a bit if he possibly was overtraining. We did hear early in the preseason he was a club rat who was literally always there putting in extra work even in the off season leading in.

The change in his look overall and cutting near half a minute off his 2k best was no fluke. I kind of feel he may have been rewarded a few weeks out from Rd1 with some assurance he’d get games and to perhaps back it off a bit in the final lead up. I’m speculating here but could be some more great management from the new S&C contingent if there’s any merit in the theory.

The other thing is his rise to getting to no1 mid season prospect was sharp and the result of some crazy work ethic. For a guy that is great in the contest and a long boot to add elite endurance to get to more contests bodes very well. He’s not gonna be quick but Patrick Cripps

I’m not sure he is a wise choice SuperCoach wise anyway. He’s a relatively unfit inside mid coming back from glandular, bad Covid, a badly broken nose and no u18 football or 2022 football. ATM he handballs more than he kicks and wouldn’t ave more than 17-20 disposals come years end.
