My sources tell me that Culley and the club have had a falling out.
Club wanted to start talks about a contract extension, Culley's management hinted he's heading back to Vic at end of season unless Eagles can come up with a $1m pa 7 year deal.

Unfortunately, Gov has already called dibs on any spare salary cap space for his brother as they really want to play together, so Eagles have no room to move on their initial offer.
The falling out suggestion makes sense.

But the idea that he wants $1million pa for 7 years sounds totally fanciful. He hasn't yet proved that he can make the grade as an AFL player let alone be paid in the top echelon. Absurd.

Only half the story right at best.

Happy Excuse Me GIF

If we don't win... where does that actually realistically leave us though?

I mean gee whiz.
Already had this chat with a few mates.
If we are 0-2 after the first two rounds then it’s hard to see where a win will come from in the short term, next month of games gets really tough.
Hopefully the young pups bring it and we are 2-0

The other bizarre part about all of this is that the club injury report came out yesterday........and no mention of Yeo

And then today, whoops, we forgot to mention one of our best players being injured because we were playing ducks and drakes?

That's ridiculous

I think they were waiting on scan results before mentioning anything, which
is fair enough. No hard comeback on the club here.

That sort of garbage has been par for the course for at least the last 2 years.

Great isn't it? New season, same old shit. As soon as the intensity levels rise our oh-so fragile veterans start breaking down.

I've just about had a gutful of these expensive liabilities. The club needs to take a deep breath, prioritize the youth whenever possible and embrace the full ground level rebuild. It'll be ugly at first but we'll emerge from it a stronger club.
