So we miss out on having a proper-sized oval on which to train a professional AFL side, one of the richest clubs paying 100 MILLION dollars, in order to save a clutch of **** ing trees that could easily be replanted tenfold elsewhere.

Too many people with too much time on their hands, and nothing better to worry about than some bloody kookaburras who can easily fly to the next tree.

Some trees are really fragile, they just up and die.

Yes we’ve reduced the size of the second oval to save more trees but the protesters knew that before they went to CMI so it was for nothing
I don’t think the CMI protestors are the residents they refer to here. There’s an advisory panel with resident representatives who may not be so militant and this would be a negotiation with them. The CMI protestors aren’t involved at all.

I think you are right it's a different group, I think this one.

I just wonder if these resident advisory groups are going to be easily pressured by the protestors and smart enough to weigh everything up using just the facts.

Or is it this is the noise we are hearing from the loudest few, here's a compromis even if the problem wasn't a real one.

And is there a members advisory panel? Without us there is no money and no club to spend it.

If at all possible, I don't know why we didn't find and announce a plan to use a smaller oval until the road construction is finished then we either shift the oval down and if not possible promise a heap of stuff for that section.

Should be more mention of the additional space the area will receive when the tunnel project is completed, specifically the eastern side of South road.
yet all we from these protesting groups are crickets.

Have a closer look at the eastern side of South Road in the follow UTube

Even that’s not good enough for them

Why do I have a bad feeling about this

Because history shows we are an utterly spineless club that folds at the first hurdle.
We always think 'let's go for a win-win', rather than actually looking out for what is best for the club first.

i reckon by the time this gets up and built i will be that far gone for the game and club. 1991-end of 2017 i averaged going to at LEAST 10 of the 11 home games a year and an away game or two plus all away melb finals. since the 2017 GF debacle i have been to 3 games! fair to say i am fed up with the way the club is ON AND OFF the field. you are correct, we are spine-less

You're not alone.
Unfortunately, the VFL are killing the Golden Goose in SA.

I wonder if maybe they could swap the position of the two ovals - even within the reduced bounds as per last plan update, they could still fit clones of AO & MCG in there.

That would completely wipe out any training facility though.
