I think it's becoming increasingly obvious that the new club song is actually a gypsy curse.
I mean think about it, the club released the new song, 2 months later the state's in lockdown from a global pandemic and then we're hubbing in Queensland. That's just the start. It's been all downhill since that song came out.
Birds of Tokyo always seemed like the type of effeminate flogs that would support Freo. They've beaten us from the inside!

Birds of Tokyo are the work of Satan dragging us to Hell.

Does anyone know if/why Warren Kofoed is still the Strength and Conditioning Manager at the Club? If so, how in the blue hell did he stay on after last years utter turmoil. Imagine a professional sporting organisation not being able to field a side.
As of December he was still there so you’d say absolutely yes.

There was a new S+C coach brought in prior to the players coming back, Mark Kilgallon, who was at Sydney for six years before going back to Ireland during Covid it would appear.

Right, so assuming Hurn is fine for this week, these are the players I’m assuming will be unavailable this weekend:
  • Liam Ryan (hamstring)
  • Dom Sheed (throat)
  • Elliot Yeo (groin) - don’t know the severity of the injury but given he’s getting scans I think it’s safe to assume we wouldn’t risk him
  • Elijah Hewett (ankle) - again, don’t know severity but surely safe to assume he’s unavailable
  • Nic Naitanui (Achilles)
  • Jamie Cripps (ankle)
  • Campbell Chesser (knee)
  • Jeremy McGovern (hamstring)
  • Tom Cole (ankle)
  • Jack Williams (spleen)
  • Harry Edwards (wrist)
  • Coby Burgiel (hamstring) - only just returned from a hammy, first year player so club will take a conservative approach and he won’t play this weekend

These players MIGHT be unavailable but we don’t have enough information, or they were listed 1-2 weeks away last week:
  • Luke Shuey (hamstring) - I know it’s been reported that he’s likely to come back this week but I’d really hate to rush him in, no matter how bad our injuries are. Hope we give him another week
  • Isiah Winder (knee)
  • Bailey Williams (hamstring) - the way Mitch Woodcock worded it was “in doubt”, and given limited information on the injury I won’t rule him out. Seems very unlikely he’d play though
  • Jordyn Baker (conditioning?)
  • Callum Jamieson (ankle)

So by my count, a minimum of 12 unavailable, up to 17 at absolute worst. That matches up with what Gavin Bell said with 15-17 unavailable this weekend.

If we do have 17 unavailable it’ll mean we’ll have 27 players to pick from. Another couple of injuries (and let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be that surprising anymore if a couple more did pop up) and we won’t be able to name 4 emergencies for our game this weekend.

Just absolutely dire.

I’ve previously been in the camp of this being more bad luck than anything, but with two more hammies today I am getting suspicious of what is actually going on here.

Injuries are part of footy, but really it’s not THAT dangerous of a game - I just can’t fathom how our players are breaking down so quickly and easily.

Refresh this thread in about 20 minutes I'm guessing.

Yeo is fooked.
Groin is done.
Say goodbye to him as well this year.
This team is about to forcefully gutted at the senior end. Problem is the whole group of mid agers are potato's.

Your predictions of future events don’t have a great strike rate

This from WCE Phil:

So people know the clubs medical, strength and conditioning staff was mostly turned upside down over the off season. Kofoed was kept, a physio and club doctor. AFAIK everyone else was replaced.

Kofoed was given the benefit of the doubt and surrounded by new staff. We showed signs of extreme improvement in fitness before mass contact injuries and a couple of old man injuries. Even the youngsters are much fitter than they were in years gone past. We will likely see him heading it up until the end of next year before a major review is done again.
[/QUOTE]

I’d imagine given Kofoed was there during our sustained run of success (including the flag) earnt him some “credits” so to speak.

Things were tracking well… before the apocalypse.

I expect the program to be continually reviewed in light of what has happened (again) and I hope some attention is paid to the training ground. There might be something in it. I would be interested to know of Perth FC’s occurrence of injuries the last few years, if they have experienced above average in comparison to the rest of the WAFL.

I love how AFL teams can use the “awaiting scans”. Before that’s even leaked to the media, the player has had scans and has already got a rehab process in place.

We are mushrooms and in the dark we shall live.

Firmly on track for the Harley Reid Cup

If I were him I wouldn't want any where near us, right now all we can manage to do is ruin players bodies.

Burgiel also injured???
Massive nightmare for 2 out of our 5 draft picks to be injured.
Please no more...

Ginbey is not fully fit. Had a fitness test in lead up to the game, played on 'managed minutes' and now has his calf strapped up.

Been chasing at half speed (full intent) the last 2 weeks.

Seriously if Covid top ups are still a thing anyone not 100% fit give them a week off and play WAFL top ups.
