Hahaha does he upset you?

I just laugh at it if i disagree. Also it's fun to read his wacky opinions.

I don't get why people get angry at these guys

As an individual he doesn't upset me in the slightest. I don't engage in most of what he peddles. I get frustrated when I see people biting at the carrots he dangles - and as much as I'd like to comment and tell them their scorn is feeding his social platform, I don't because the ridiculous thing is that me doing so would have the same effect. This is about the only place I'd bother to bring him up, because at least he's not monetising BigFooty - but even then, I won't link his articles or click on links to his articles for the reasons outlined above.

Cornes is, ultimately, endemic of a wider issue in the football media landscape, which is that they're becoming self-fulfilling. They don't even need anything of note to happen, they just roll out some ridiculous and deliberately irrational hot takes over the weekend as the games are completed, see which of them get the most backlash on social media, then spend the rest of the week having back and forth chats about a subject they've made up themselves.

The footy journo's are essentially trying to turn their contributions into as much a form of entertainment as the game itself. For people who enjoy that, good for you I guess. I'd prefer to see insightful commentary.

I just say the disconnect between TDK contract/trade talk compared to output is ridiculous.

What actual really good games has he ever played? I’m sure there are a few, v Freo last year at marvel I remember him being pretty good (that is what sparked the million dollar a year comment from Cornes).

He must have a great manager, 8 year contracts at 800k a year from the swans rumours, surely can’t be true. TDK could end up anything or just what he currently is at this point and have a career like Shaun Hampson sans Megan Gale.

Hence why the footy media are in favour of a mid season trade period, need something to talk about when you are reporting on the game 24/7 and BS trade rumours can help fill that (works in the EPL).

It gives you something to talk about on here.....

What do you class as "insightful commentary"?

I've seen them also say no articles get as many clicks as articles about trade rumours, so they'd love to add to the gravy train by actually having trades happen mid season. They'd never have to stop talking about it.

Seems in all sports fans are obsessed about players moving around, like sone believe winning a trade period or transfer period is more important than actually winning football games.

I believe they meant if there was a mid season trade period they'd trade their first draft pick in the ND for TDK.

At least I hope that's what was meant....

No, he was talking about main draft

He said mid-season Trade period, and West Coast's 1st National Draft pick.
As if.

That makes the comment even more ridiculous, but at the other end of the spectrum.

As if West Coast would do that.

Anyway, best not to listen to Kane. He's a hypocrite and a wannabe shock jock.

Yes we’d be falling over ourselves to get the deal done. Imagine it this year, giving up say TDK for Harley Reid.

ouch.

It's a bit funny that he pontificates about the WEagles being a 'false dawn' team - a team where you'll think you've turned a corner, only to realise the subsequent week they really were that shit - on one hand, then informs us that Geelong comes up against a now in form Richmond.

His section on us is still well worth a read, though.
