Owies is a hard nut, we need those types.
He has a ton of improvement in him too.

Kemp is not going to develop into a long term player by being left in the reserves. Need to have a long term view with investing in your young talent.

Most of his first round counterparts have or are reaching 50 games experience and developing into integral players for their teams. Meanwhile we're dropping Kemp after his 8th game for lacking the experience we're unwilling to give him.

I'm with ya...thought he was okay last week given our back half was completely rudderless....and had him in the votes the previous week.

On a sliding scale, if he was shithouse, there were others in our back half that were shithouser. The poor dude was playing his 8th game of senior footy, and there was zero direction out there from our onfield 'leaders'.

Now the poor bugger has to go back to the magoos and line up on Harley Reid

I thought the defense was 50% of the reason, if they can’t dispose of the ball to mids and forwards out of d50s then that is turnovers converting to opposition goals

sure the mids and forwards gotta provide options, but the defense also have to have a Plan B that doesn’t involve just giving it to the opposition on a silver platter ie kick to a 50:50 at least

Meh mids can't make space or run into it. Nowhere to kick to

Kemp doesn't fit in that well with a backline that already has Gov, Weitering and Young.

He's done some good things, some poor. Some iffy kicks and poor positioning. Ultimately he is a third tall defender but we already have Gov...balance much better replacing him with Doc.

Young was poor and got subbed, but has credits in the bank and is a KPD that matches up well for Lobb. Weitering also poor but again is KPD, is one of our leaders and has credits in the bank to jot get dropped.

Which circles back to and supports the idea that we mismanage player development. Lacking in explosive players lacking in good supporting forwards. Plonk the guy at half back in a defensive role. Makes all the sense.

Boyd played a couple of good games pre injury last year but he is one who’s reputation has been enhanced by not playing.

He will need to adapt again to the pace of things when he gets another chance.

Bang on. Most of our so-called superstars have been a liability. A champion team over a team of champions any day.

Owies is one of our few non ring-in players, who has a positive win/loss record. 18-1-15 record. His only losing season was a 6-7 year in 2021. Blues won 2 of the other 9 games he missed.

Out of curiosity how many of our players have winning records in Carlton colours?

At a guess I am thinking Hewett, Carroll and maybe Cerra?

Makes no bloody sense to me. After 2 games, one of which he was really good.

I've been a staunch supporter of our selection dudes but this has perplexed me to no end!!!
