Like the ins (grunt, speed, intent); disappointed Kemp is out. Hopefully sub. Don’t like Honey & Ed in emergencies.

Otherwise strong team and hope we smash ‘em.

Honey is not an emergency.

Excited with owies and Cotters in but genuinely miffed. This is not how you treat developing players. Yo yo-ing them around. Don't care if he was out of place for a few goals kicked by the best small forwards in the comp. Defense was not even close to the reason we lost that game. Feels scape goaty. Again.

Kemp doesn't fit in that well with a backline that already has Gov, Weitering and Young.

He's done some good things, some poor. Some iffy kicks and poor positioning. Ultimately he is a third tall defender but we already have Gov...balance much better replacing him with Doc.

Young was poor and got subbed, but has credits in the bank and is a KPD that matches up well for Lobb. Weitering also poor but again is KPD, is one of our leaders and has credits in the bank to jot get dropped.

I have to say that credits in the bank should keep a player in the side for a few weeks until they regain their mojo. It absolutely should not earn them a season of poor performance and cost us a finals berth. They are either injured, have lost their ability, lost their motivation, lost their confidence or out of form. I'm not sure any of those things will improve at the top level.

Kemp is not going to develop into a long term player by being left in the reserves. Need to have a long term view with investing in your young talent.

Most of his first round counterparts have or are reaching 50 games experience and developing into integral players for their teams. Meanwhile we're dropping Kemp after his 8th game for lacking the experience we're unwilling to give him.

Gee whiz, few on here really clutching at straws thinking Owies is our saviour and going to change our fortunes around. Good for structure, but super star ⭐ he ain't. Ditto Cottrell....
We don't need more superstars - we need role players who make their teammates better and give their all consistently

Interesting to read all the new found theories after the team is announced

Owies for Honey is a no brainer. Will apply more pressure, intent and was hitting the scoreboard previously

Cotts plays the Ed role and more likely to hit the scoreboard

Kennedy in the side after struggling with a corky is the right move

Exactly this.

Our next trade period needs to be solely focused on making our bottom six players better, more regular contributors.

The knock-on effect of this would be transformational.

Bang on. Most of our so-called superstars have been a liability. A champion team over a team of champions any day.

Owies is one of our few non ring-in players, who has a positive win/loss record. 18-1-15 record. His only losing season was a 6-7 year in 2021. Blues won 2 of the other 9 games he missed.

Anyone else notice the three incumbents are all Mathew’s….

Happy with the ins.

Kemp is stiff but can go back to vfl and work on a few things. Would have like to keep him in for another week or so but all good. Young and plenty to learn.

Honeys main deficiency is lingering on…needs to work on some specific things. Tackling with some intent, stop running aimlessly at players, try to think about what you are doing

Honeys main deficiency? He can’t get the ball.

Very Gordon Bombay of you 👏

I think Honey is faster more dynamic and a better kick than Owies. But Owies reads the play has shorter steps and more agility Owies instinctive tactical awareness is much better

The other thing with Owies is he has kicked the important set shot goal when we need it on multiple occassions. This is the number one job for a forward.

That miss by Honey where he casually strolled in waving the ball around in the run up and missed from right in front was a crucial miss.

Thing is weiters and Young are KPDs and our only backup is an unproven Durdin who is currently injured. At a stretch Marchbank who is always injured.

There's not really many options when it comes to rotating our KPDs due to poor form. Kemp has been monstered a few times by the big KPFs, Gov is a third tall, JSOS is probably not a realistic option. Seen TDK mentioned but think that's unlikely as well.

We need Weiters and Young to recapture their early 2022 form.
