It's changed though. Takes time. Some older players still have bad habits because they have spent their whole career playing an opposite brand of footy. And we have a crap list, so it makes it hard to execute when you're losing all the time.

Yes it’s changed but a few seasons too late. I was fairly happy till the recent game vs suns. Saw a lot more flood back rather than spread forward and take risk. If we are to be belted like last year let’s stick to a game which suits the current rules.

What do you want him to say? "Yeah, our list is crap. Half these guys are WAFL players. Can't wait to turn them over"?

Not sure I raised what I want him to say. The bloke took a pretty average list to win a premiership on vfl soil so I have no issue with Simpson. I just want him to stick to changing the game plan, if we vet belted so be it, we have a crap list.

He said he can’t change the game plan due to injuries last year, I call bullshit. Can’t the top ups play a new game plan where you take risks and handball forwards asap? The old brigade seem to struggle more than the new players with a new game plan.

No it wasn't that, it was that there's not enough to be able to practice the new plan, it had FA to do with last year.
With out enough afl quality players available how are you meant to practice a new game plan ?

This is the reality - no coaches is going to change our win/loss record this year with this current list and its injuries...

I agree Simpson should get an extra year or two of leeway, just because he won us a flag and took us to another granny.

I also believe this is the sweet spot of finding another coach, 10 years. That's how long he's been at the helm and it's just a good time to bring new energy and new ideas. Happy for him to coach the next year or two as we bottom our so our next crop of players get to be coached under 2 different coaches.

This is underplayed. Not being able to adequately train is a massive drag on getting better.

Agree, game plan has completely changed. You have to be completely clueless not too see.

Because people read this sort of thing more than news that are more about facts.

I suspect the bottom of the barrel players, which is where we are at, dont have the physiology and ability to execute the game plan. Given that most clubs play the same of similar style you may as well just call it AFL level footy.

To put it another way a majority playing are WAFL level players. Coaching cannot change that.

Simmo said openly in this recent press conference - we need to get tallent into the team. ie - it is known that there isnt much at the moment.

I suspect as we draft heavily it is relatively easier to get good mids but looking a few years ahead, to when we will compete, we need the key quality talls forward, ruck and back soon as they take longer to develop. Until we have these tall peforming well we will be middle of the road at best. Of our current list Allen is the only lock in based on ability and age. The other talls are aging (ie well past it in a few years) or very marginal performers.

They are quietly building a potential dynasty there.

Once the front-half connection kicks in (don't forget King missed all of 2022), they will rise very rapidly.

The production line they have coming from their Academy (which still retains the ability to match at any bid) looks insanely good as well.

They have good players to burn and more to come.
Once they travel well the comp better watch out.
If they had a Collingwood/Richmond fixture (15,games at home) it might already have happened.
