Batchelor keeps his game reviews very positive, it would seem winning games are not a priority. He even coaches in that manner, its like the club has set plans for our players in games and he is reticent to change it.

I totally agree of his assessment of Max Heath's game. Given how windy it was he had a very good game and I just love his appetite for the contest. He will be a very good AFL ruckman one day, but needs time to mature.

I would be a lot harder on both the defensive talls Van Es & Adam. I thought they failed to lay body on spoils a couple of occasions when they needed to. Also Connolly goes missing when things heat up in the middle. He needs to learn to work himself back into games when things arent falling his way.

Its not going to get any easier for Sandringham they have Brisbane this week. Would be nice to see a competitive effort, but expect they will be belted.

Afl probably wouldn’t allow it but the vfl is such a crap comp and our alliance is pretty well ****en useless. I think the boys see it as a massive punishment having to play for Sandy and there’s zero pride or connection with the real team.
At least let them go and play in a fare dinkum comp that has some stability.

Not sure they would be any happier having to get on a plane every week to play reserves.

It has been a cluster from the get go, the club needs to bite the bullet and go it alone. I think supplementary players might even find it more attractive being a part of an AFL clubs VFL side, than a poor alliance like Sandringham. Sandringham most likely wouldnt be able to continue but thats not our concern.

Its time St Kilda FC make the plans for a stand alone VFL side in 2024!

Well it ain’t worken

If my car is broken it doesn't make sense to fix random things until i hit on the right one.
Melbourne, Tigers, Bulldogs, Cats all have teams in the VFL.
Some are stand alone some are affiliated. ( = not a big factor ).

The added expense is probably not worth it IMO. We have control already. Just need to maximise what we do there.

Rumours abound of a return to the curtain raiser 'reserves' competition. It was always good to get to the game half time of the 2's and watch the kids play.

My issue is the continued lack of cohesion. The AFL listed players mostly look like they are going through the motions and Sandi players feed off that. Its a why should GAF if they dont mentality.

I think lately it's more that we have been missing so many senior players that we are not adding talent to an already thin talent pool. If you have guys like Coffield and Bytel in the side you are pretty competitive.

Richmonds injury list was longer than ours leading into last weeks games. Yet they easily beat Sandringham with their supplementary players, those excuses only go so far. The union has never attracted the right quality of players to support the Saints list. I have strong concerns our players are not being developed, when they are on the end of a belting most weeks.

Noise coming out of the club this week has been fairly soft and forgiving.

Would be a huge statement to drop Dougs in a week when someone has to stand next to 3 different 200cm guys. Going in with three key backs under 193cm is a huge call!

True but some lamp posts are 200cm tall. Can’t select him just for his height if he’s giving away goals.

It pisses me off no end, that instead of the real time team selections, we get the "wait until the channel 7 news before we announce the teams".
Specifically i never watch the 7 News out of spite ( even though i like Tim ), i always check out the teams online.

They don't spend money on players. Changing the name and replacing all the staff is going to cost a lot and if we don't spend on the non aligned players we will continue to be in the same place but rebranded. At least if Sandringham is shit they don't bring our name down.
