I’ve visited dangerous Dan murphy’s this morning and amongst other things I grabbed a six pack of toohey’s old, the first one went down beautifully.
Beauty. I'm polishing off the Jameson cans today and might re-stock later. No grog for the next 5 weeks so have to go out with a bang

I’ve been wedding shopping, with my youngest daughter and wife so I deserve 1 or many. I’ve dropped 20 kgs so far with weights and diet and yeah I’ll be taking a month or so off before the wedding in mid September. I’ve also tweaked my screwed knee yesterday so I’m on a day off.

That's an unbelievable effort mate, wow, well done. It gets so much harder to do as you get older but you must feel so much better.

Hard to stop a few beers on weekends but if you do after a few weeks you really start to notice it. If I go a month without grog I feel less foggy and motivation is through the roof. Tipping you'll feel great come the wedding.

Yes it’s a game changer if you get off the grog and carbs that’s for sure. I’m banged up, no knees and a hip that needs surgery but I’m feeling quite a bit better. Not being able to workout and the covid lockdown really impacted me, it was a lousy situation with things coming together just before covid. I had my doctor retire, then his replacement retired all while starting to get patella problems and being diagnosed with bone on bone in both knees and a hip that’s even worse. I’m a person who’s been obsessive about playing sport and working out all my life so it’s hit me pretty hard.

What sports? That's pretty rough. Can you fix them with surgery or no chance? If not I guess if you strengthen the muscles around those areas it'll relieve some pain. I reckon I'll have arthritis in my hands, knuckles are worn to hell boxing for so long and so many sprained wrists and elbows that I've lost count haha. Reckon diet almost helps more than anything else though.

I was a swimmer and yes a pretty good one, six times victorian A grade champions and 4 times age group champion in those teams. I’ve been lucky enough to swim with and against Olympian’s and yeah i have some impressive medals etc. I was pretty good at football and played for the school team from grade 3 then didn’t play until I gave up swimming in my late teens. I was tracking pretty well until a shoulder dislocation, Tony jewell was my coach at that time. I gave that up apart from a few local come backs when mates would get me down to play usually when coaching but it always ended with another dislocation.

I played a lot of tennis won a few club championships and played a lot of pennant tennis. I had a couple of young coaches when I was about 19 that wanted me to play the secondary tour with them and had coaching jobs lined up at newks tennis ranch etc but I’d met a girl now my wife so that’s another story. I’ve been working out cross training, weights, running etc since I was 12 and I’ve spent decades in gyms etc, a mate of mine was a famous Australian body builder.

I‘ve been a free diver and spear fisherman since I was 12 and still get an occasional dive in. I’ve surfed from around the same age although that’s now just a memory. I guess you name it like ice skating and I’ve probably done it, golf I was pretty good at off around 10 playing a couple of times a week, I have two cousins who were teaching pros in the US.

Sport of some kind was a massive part of my life and I guess I was fortunate enough to be naturally pretty good at most sports. Still no money in most of it when I was young just the enjoyment, my family on both sides were very athletic from cycling and swimming, tennis to golf, baseball and boxing so I guess it’s in the genes. Trust me whilst I’ve loved what I’ve done I’ve always told my kids if you’re not getting paid it’s called a hobby and they all have impressive educations 🤣🤣

PS: I’ll get the hip fixed but the knees i‘m judging by friends and family just live with but yes you’re right diet has a massive impact along with exercise on everything.

That's actually incredible haha I didn't expect that level of performance at all (nothing against you 😂). No wonder your body is banged up, that's a hell of a lot of sport and at a pretty good level. If you continue to drop some kegs you'll live to 100, your body doesn't forget all the good times you gave it haha.

My only claim to fame is playing rep footy when I was younger and reaching a pretty decent level with the boxing. I was cut from Sandy Dragons in U16's but played with guys like Tyrone Vickery (who I played all through juniors with) and Taylor Hunt, both weren't superstars but 100 games at AFL level isn't bad. Got up to 7th in the Vic amateurs before Covid hit which sent everything backwards. Been back at that since November but at 33 it's more of a way to keep fit, although I do want to get another sanctioned fight in at some point. So many issues with my lower back (seeing a chiro for this as of January), wrists, knees, elbows. I know that if I stopped training all of that would get worse though so have to keep at it. And boxing cardio is a different beast to regular cardio so building that back has been a lot of work.

However...never seen anyone in their older age weigh 300lbs so the more kegs you can shed the better. Makes such a huge difference to quality of life.

What are you off the booze for George?

Got a fight on August 5th at The Croatian Club. Hopefully I'll get home safely, Footscray is an absolute tip

Especially with Croatians around. I'd employ security. The old ladies will take you down if they don't like the result.

That's what the place is pretty much like. Weird set up but the ring is in the middle of a dining area. People go for dinner and can watch a few fights. Last time I went they were all doing this Croatian clapping dance. Thought I was back in the family village in Greece for a moment.

Yeah, been there. It's party like it's 1966 time at the Croatian Club.

I reckon I had about fifteen Tooheys olds last night followed by about six rum and cokes. I’m done and dusted.

I had 2 or 3 beers last night and woke up feeling a bit shithouse. That's a good effort.

They were doing these ones (whilst sitting down mind you, impressive)

Tell your wife to have a word would ya. I'll be coming out to 50 Cent. Culture shock to them - but definitely needed.
(not really but would be a laugh)
