I very much hear what you are saying. No doubt has the ability, but does he have the hard edged and necessary commitment.

I see the Birch comparisons, but what people forget is that Birch as a nasty bastard and pretty physical. Scrim had a terrific game against Brisbane full of desperation but regressed significantly against GCS. He's getting a bit of a free pass here in our discussions about our backline - Sic is key, but Scrim is one of the experienced heads down there. He needs to be doing more.

I'm one of the first to call out Scrimshaw usually, but I will say that I find it difficult to judge defenders in games where we've lost the inside 50 count by 31. It's clear that the coaches want him to be better defensively and to play more of a second tall role, and that puts his spot at risk, but I wouldn't have thought his performance would be the first under scrutiny.

Agree the focus from the rubbish we dished up on the weekend should be the midfield & our ball movement, not the backline.

completely agree. I thought all of our defenders actually defended quite well up until the last half of the last quarter, considering there was no movement up the field, terrible pressure fwd of the ball, mids losing every contest etc.

defenders are easy targets because they "directly" concede goals but tbh I think our fwd line is the area of list management that needs by far the most work

Loved Birchall when the ball was on the ground or in his hands.
Completely useless in a marking contest.

I am worried. Love the bloke, love his skill, but I worry about his commitment.
A mate of mine is family friends with the Scrimshaws, he had told me that they were all confused as to why he wasnt getting a game earlier in the year when he was at Box Hill (seemingly after the injuries) and that both North and Richmond had checked in with his manager about availability, didnt really think much of it when I was told but since he is being discussed thought I would put in what I have been told

AC luvs the bloke.

I think he has one more season to prove he has the mongrel.
Spot on. It's very obviously what Sam is prioritising. Which is why I think whether or not he is b22, Kosi is safe. I think Sam would happily keep Kosi around as KPP depth due to his effort, hunger and violence.

Any best 22 player that is kept out of the side would get hounded by other clubs and so they should, however it’s still up to scrim if he wants to work hard enough, the kids coming through are working harder…

Will be interesting how it plays out

This is sad. He's very well liked around the club.
I think that's why we've gone the extra effort to keep him around with a coaching role in our AFLW side. He is also studying education at uni and interested in coaching as a career, so with any luck he'll be around for a while. Also rounds out a pretty special coaching group for out AFLW side, a great group to learn from.

100% - not to repeat the point, but the loss was largely on our mids lowering their colours and being trounced in the stoppages game. Only Nash could come out of the game I reckon with any chips in the bank - he was the only one scrapping clearances for us on the day.

Additionally, with Scrimshaw, to provide some credit where it's due - he was rated as the 3rd best Hawk in terms of impact, via the ratings points. Day obviously was rated highest (and highest on ground overall) and Dimma as the 2nd hawk. He's quality with ball in hand, and clearly talented. Just needs to take the next step and provide leadership and consistency in the backline, seeing he's at around the 70-80 game mark.

Sidenote - absolutely hanging on word of any resignings with Brocky - his upside is exciting. That popup mark he did against Brisbane felt very befitting of the number he was wearing  Kinda stunned people actually want to use him as trade bait in the other thread

Really starting to look like one of the better players of the 2020 draft along with Brocky, and hopefully DGB in time. We've done well there.
only made his debut this year so shows that patience is required with draftees (doesn't matter how much you say it though people will always be "let's delist them" or my favourite "they're no good so we just trade them for a first round pick"

This post hits me in the feels 😔

I still maintain whatever we got in exchange for Scrimmers wouldn't be fair value. He's a real talent.

Although if AC is on the other end of it we could actually do okay for once?
