You are the only one I recollect repeatedly stating Fergus is done, yes he doesn't have a contract yet but should have a 1 yr extn soon. Sam is aware of his quality and much needed for depth as he showed when Lewis was injured.

Kosi too I expect to be given 1 yr extn if he stitched another set of good games.

Jeka is a wait and watch for last list spot based on how he performs at BH as CHB, been good in the last game.

Lynch and Chad are surely done with Chad maybe getting relisted for other qualities if needed.( assuming he is not traded and available).
Morris I think is done too.

Maginess maybe too but could be in fight for that last list spot.
Suspect Greene’s spot would only be at risk in the event we get Riccardi or Lohmann as has been speculated. He’s good depth at present.

I actually don’t mind David King when he uses stats or vision from behind the goals to talk about the game or talk about players or talk about styles and what clubs are doing or not doing. I find that analysis really good, and a lot of the time it can be lacking from so many other Footy shows.

But he’s really prone to some pretty odd takes.

Last night at half time of the Geelong v Melbourne game they did this little quiz where they asked questions around clubs and their matchups this weekend, and it got to the Gold Coast Hawthorn match and Ralph asked David King if Hawthorn’s midfield was complete enough that we had our next premiership midfield together.

Kingy gave Day and Newk abit of a plug, but then to my surprise, stated that we “need another 3 to 4 midfielders”. I assume he meant via the draft because he didn’t go onto mention any of our youngsters that are coming through.

I actually laughed at the TV when he said that.

We need the next Franklin and Roughead really.

I thought he said another 3-4 years before we are competitive again. I dismissed him yet again. Your version even worse.

We don’t even need that.

We have Lewis already. Put Curnow in our side and we’d be flying.

He was a pick in the teens.

I will never understand the people that try to put a figure on the amount of players needed to challenge. A comment like 3 to 4 ADDITIONAL players is just nonsense.

What type of players? For what purpose? You can really only have 3 "midfielders" on the ground at any given point, a few more on the bench and then the rest have no alternative but to play seconds. How is that helping us out besides giving us depth?

We've already got Newc, Day, Worpel, Nash as the first choice 4, with MacDonald, Ward, Mackenzie all young, promising and developing. That's 7 established or potential B grade or better mids.

Yep. Xfactor forwards. Small and big to compliment our developing Brocky and the hard working Moore. Three more to add to Lewis and we are dangerous again.

A successful transition of CJ to a wing.

A KPD and we are done.

Ive been on the "CJ to a wing" bandwagon for about 2 years because I really believe he could be our next Izzy or Brad Hill.
Any insights as to if it could happen or is it just wishful thinking?

Yep I am putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 with Ferg. I'm just concerned how quickly he was out of the side after being tried in another role and struggling. I hope not but spots are incredibly tight this season. Kosi was in the wilderness but may have saved his career. Let's hope Ferg can do the same.
I’m not sure what comes first with these more marginal players, contract renewals or draft/trade selections but I think one has a direct bearing on the other either way, and if we were to draft Caddy for example that could indicate Ferg is less likely to be retained.

He suggested on SEN the other day that all clubs unassign the number 1 jumper at their clubs and that each year the Brownlow medalist would be the only player in the league to wear the number 1 jumper, similar to a yellow jersey from cycling.

Justified it as no club had any real legacy with the number 1 jumper.

And this was to Kane Cornes and Gerard Healy. I think Kane took pity on him because he didn't even point out that Port Adelaide have always assigned number 1 to their current captain.

Look I'm not a list manager for very good reason so take it easy, but there's a very glaring hole in our list to me and it is a source of bullshit goals. And I mean Bullshit Goals as a proper noun, Brockman is special and will be a great forward and Butler has had some glimpses. Moore may appear as a BGS (Bullshit Goal Source) but it's an easy mistake to make, but it's really just his workrate and will to push every opportunity as far as he can, much like Puopolo. Bullshit Goal Source's are not limited to any position, and I truly believe the large part of our next finals campaign team is already here. I'm very bullish on the height we brought in through the midseason draft. With a genuine BGS as a tall/small/high half forward, we're done here. Nick Watson for mine, not enough genuine pricks in our side at the moment

I like it. Bailey Fritsch is a great BGS. Gary Rowan, Ginavan. A classy, arsey forward Who get more goals than they deserve. Is that what you mean?

Fun concept. But I'd suggest Brockman and Butler are both BGSs. I would love to throw in:
- Sicily - already does it on occasion, but would like more.
- Seamus - would love to see him bursting off halfback for .3 goals a game.
- Nash - It's the next transition in his game.

Newcombe
Day
Worpel
Nash
McKenzie
Ward
McDonald
Yep, David, Hawthorn are really lacking in inside mid options!! Oldest bloke on that list is 24 ffs!!!!
We still need a genuine winger who takes ground and kicks goals. Would love an early teens pick and take Darcy Wilson for that purpose. In parallel we must trial CJ there. Solving that will mean we have 10 deep midfield With only Amon late 20s the rest are 24 and under. We pretty much have defence sorted. For the love of god 2 kpfs please from this trade and draft period.

More x factor yes.

ill assume King meant we need 3-4 more to emerge from either our current crop or draft.

5 weeks ago he mentioned worps as being really important to the build. Nash is not getting enough love.

I'm happy enough with MacKenzie. another high ceiling high impact mid would be perfect plus another winger but they might be on the list already

Yep, correct, bit I see Weddle as that damaging winger in the near future. Has all the traits for mine.

Simular to last year, i hope in the last month we let the injured and a few seniors have a early start to there pre season.

Let our youth blend and add a few more younger players to the mix.

I am keen to see MacDonald, Ward, McKenzie, Mitchell, Butler, Serong, Long, Stephens, Ramsden, DGB and Maginness all the same time.

I know its likely we may cop a bit of a hit, but they are all learning to play together as one.

Is Scrimshaw trade bait this year?

Positional surplus and if he can't lift his intensity, I dare say it would be in his best interests to look elsewhere.

What could we get for him?
