It makes perfect sense, if you have the role already covered ......instead of desiring Redman, what we needed to focus on was trading for a KPD ......said that all year, and the weekend confirmed why

We miss Redman, and we are largely unaffected .....Redman was a "want" not a "need"
Redman could play half back , wing , midfield , half forward no sweat

Put him anywhere and he’d be a good player

We really don’t need a key defender if Murray comes back healthy , hope we get a depth one on cheap

Who are our consistent 500+ M gained half backs with speed and 55m kick at 190cm ?

Hinge, and Michaelanney ......if given that role ....Michaelanney will get the attacking shackles released, if was his first year, and a smart play to focus on defending first

You are so wrong on this assessment of our list
Nank could become that elite HB, I loved what I saw on Sunday - but it’ll be three years before we see that from him

I don’t see it from any of the other guys we have, really. As I’ve said in the past, every team in the comp needs to have an elite rebounder. Who’s our Daicos/Stewart/May/Redman/Saad/Blakey/Young?

Hinge is not a really creative, run and carry-type though

Michalanney maybe, but again, it’ll be a while before we see that side of his game

You watch Port.. they’ve got sweet fxxk all to bargain with.. basically the fluff in their fxxkn pockets..

but they’ll end up trading in Rategolea, Grundy and Zirk-Thatcher and still take a half decent pick to the draft.. all whilst our club are still standing around scratching their arses and umming and ahhring..

you just know its gonna happen.

And then we’ll have Nicksy front the cameras after trade week with a stupid sh*t eating grin on his face whilst he gives us a whole heap of pissant excuses and nonsense about how “things didnt go fully to plan but its all good.. did you see we resigned Murph for another two years”

fxxkn sick of it.
If anyone can do it, they can. I would be trying really hard to get Flanders and Hollands with one (or maybe both for Flanders) of our 2nds - either will do me and then draft Sanders or Duursma maybe and bring in a project ruck and look at trying to trade in an extra KPD not getting much game time from another side for that Collingwood 3rd we have

Ignoring height, our rebounding in the last quarter on Sunday seemed to come from Milera/Jones/Smith/Cook, many resulting in goals.
They were pivotal in our near-win.

Young has had an aweful season .....May is a stay at home FB, refuses to follow his man up the ground, which is why he's loose so often
Naicos is a generational talent .....what you need to remember is, Redman only broke out 2 years ago at 23/24 YO......he's had 2 good years

All those players are different .....I agree on Nankervis, he just looks a natural ....interesting comments by his parents ??

Do you believe Butts will compete with the best Full Backs in the league ?

I'd have a look at Silvagni and see if he has some of the defensive traits of his old man .....I like him as a player

I like Jones and Cook on the wing, both have the ability to push forward if needed

Agree that our strength right now seems to be scoring on the counter-attack, that’s why finding a high-volume rebounding type is important. Double down on our strengths by finding a player that will look incredibly dangerous in that role and create tons of scoring opportunities

That said, getting Redman isn’t the end of the world

Do you think the parents were becoming a tad frustrated

Do you think the parents were becoming a tad frustrated
Not at all ......it was along the lines of his character, and what we haven't seen yet

We know about the "star wars" love .....he seems a different cat ....and without getting too far ahead of myself, there's a touch of Nat Fyfe about him

Nankervis has the aerial skills, great balance, good kick ......and his unique personality might ......well, lets see

And Young being poor is part of why Freo have been poor this year ;)

That’s the thing with Nank though, he’ll be very good but it’ll be a little while before he’s at Redman levels. Need him to get to that level sooner rather than later if we want to be in a premiership window in, say, 2025

I believe Murray will compete, when he comes back of course. Butts has been back to being below average this past fortnight, but I’m not super down on him. I’m perfectly cool with trying to find either a stop-gap option, or someone who’s looking for a more prominent role (Esava or BZT), and if they end up staying in the side over Butts when Muz comes back, great! Can see what Keane and/or Borlase can do in the last five rounds, too

Can’t say I’ve watched enough of Carlton when JSOS has been playing to get enough of an idea what kind of player he is, these days

I must have read it wrong, thought they were thinking he should have played sooner

The belief & talk is Young is an introvert .....and doesn't demand the ball enough, like Naicos .....with Ryan, and Chapman back there, Young has tended to stand-off a bit

Potentially could be anything, if he had a healthy ego

It was along the lines, of you'll soon see, what we see at home ......a bit ambiguous by Mr & Mrs Nankervis

Interesting, because he’s highly talented and skilled

Hopefully that confidence can come with age for him, might take a move to another club

I agree .....beautiful kick & mark ....we thought it would be his breakout this year, particularly with how he played in the Finals last year .....sadly he hasn't progressed

That’s who he is though re Michaelanny , offence will come but he will always be elite defensively , that’s his thing

Hinge has been great and gives us drive

Always room for good players

Murray ACL
No Redman free agent boost
13th on the ladder and falling fast
Sloane looking likely to sign

2024 looks bleak
Would put being 13th the least bleak thing amongst that group, still a ton of room for growth assuming we play the right players

Murray and Sloane the equal most bleak

Silvagni isn't a key position player.
