He's a great player but having him in an AA side would be a slap in the face to every wing who was great but never got an AA selection. He isn't a shadow on peak Isaac Smith and Smith never made it close to an AA selection.
But at least they are now actually picking wingers in the AA side. Long may it continue.

Team is pretty reasonable this year from my perspective.

Tom Stewart is universally admired for reasons I dont understand he should never have been AA for his dog act last year and his form this year has been ok. He’s got something on someone. Also the AFL assessments of players is again in his favour. Look at the main 6 stats for each for the season and despite Sicily doing better Stewart is rated elite in the same categories. The only difference I could see is Sicily is classified as a key defender whilst stewart is a defender. Sicily is 2 CMS smaller and 2 kgs heavier given their make up surely they should be classified as the same type of defender?

Liam Shiels good for another year!!!

I heard someone on the radio earlier say “if Tom Stewart is there, you have to pick him”, which appears to be the philosophy behind his selection. It also goes against the entire ethos of the AA which is meant to be on consistent form across the season as opposed to perceived talent or reputation.

This shows how lean we’ve had it with AA over the years.

SEN did an ultimate AA side based primarily on most appearances per positions since 1991.

Despite winning most flags in this period and generally being the most successful club of the modern era, we only had one Hawk in there, Buddy, who shares the honours with Sydney. Cats had 6.

Let Geelong have their meaningless All Australians…
At the end of the day we have the most premierships during that period and that’s all the matters by a long shot…

The worst part of the AA mafia is somehow the peeps thinks it’s got GOAT qualification input

It wouldn’t be hard to put together a team that would flog that team by 10 goals, what a shocking goat side

Hawkins ahead of Dunstall/Lockett
Enright over Hodge (or Burgoyne for that matter)

Brad Johnson??? - As much as he's doper Hird would have to go over Johnno

Tom Stewart?? - laughable stuff - Gryan Miers level hilarity -Gary Ayers says hi

Andrew McKay over Andrew McCleod

Dangerfield on a HFF ahead of a guy who has won three Norm Smith medals

No genuine CHB - Rance to FB

Gawn over Goodes

No members of the Brisbane three peat premiership team

No Members of the Hawthorn three peat premiership team bar Buddy (who only played in one)

Such a terrible effort for a supposed goat team

Tom Hawkins?

Tom Hawkins at full forward ahead of Tony Lockett?

Tom Stewart has some serious photos of Gil. That is the only way to describe how Stewart got to 5 AAs.
Thought he was pretty good this year but yes he is practically getting into this team by default as long as he has a half decent year. Problem for him is Sicily was better in the same role like he was last year and even someone like Luke Ryan was as well.

I’d back hawthorns best team since 91 to have a shot. Dunstall Roughead Mitchell Langford Lake g2g with Everett Salmon McEvoy rucks/back up

Carey and Franklin the biggest problem. The others zone players Rance and Scarlett.

Yeah the 1991 basically takes out three of the top goal kickers of all time. No locket, dunstall or ablett. But im amazed hawkins gets there ahead of lloyd. The whole ff line is a bit meh compared to what you could pick from that time period.

It just underlines what AA is. It's not a team that goes off to the Olympics or whatever. It's just a story telling device. Predominately selected by folks in the story telling business. And this is what we end up with. Genuine winger selected this year because they wanted to use that story. They'll go back to putting a Dangerfield on the wing soon enough. As soon as they sniff a story that will given them content and clicks downstream

Franklin wouldn't be a problem because he would be playing at both ends of the grounds at once. He would probably be quite tired.
