Hello Shinboners!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

They should just fix the points system. If your academy player goes pick #1 you should be put of pocket a fair wack to get access to him.

Agree, or make.it that you can only match with a pick within a certain range (eg - you need a top ten pick to match a bid in the top five)

The points system was well-intentioned but massively open to being gamed.

Watch for it to change to that, just as we get a top 5 academy prospect

The academies should be funded by the AFL as a genuine mechanism to get new or disadvantaged people into the game. Without any club involvement.

I agree but how do you make sure they are properly invested in? At least having club-alignment ensures the best coaches, facilities etc, because they have skin in the game

Or limit to 3 picks only works well I think.
The average top 5 pick ( say 2350 points, reduced by say 10 % rather than 20% so 2100
points) can be matched with consecutive picks of 26,27,28. Those aren't junk picks.

Flynn would be my choice, as a replacement if Goldy goes. His numbers were OK when he played early in the year. He's not terrible, Briggs is just better.
Not much else available if he heads west though, maybe give Hayes a crack.

Just sign Goldy then it’s one thing we don’t have to worry about.

Surely Melbourne don’t include Petty in any discussions for McAdam, he’d be one of their most important forwards behind Pickett and Fritsch? They should be eyeing Caddy over Reid imo

Goldy leaving would just be a short term issue. Long term it will make absolutely no difference.

As harsh as it sounds him leaving probably forces us to find our future ruck combo, which is what we need to do.

I can see Goldie leaving having a similar end to Higgo unfortunately, almost just faded off :(

Yeh nah I disagree. At some point Goldy will retire. We need to start looking to the future.

The problem is that Xerri isnt locked in as our main ruck moving forward.
Still a lot of question marks about him and we could end up getting stuck in the same position this time next year with less options available.

Lets find out though. Give him a year (hopefully a full year) to show us what he can do as the no 1.

This fixation some people have with keeping Goldy is beyond me. He’s a North legend, and yes there may be some short term pain but we really, really need to move on. We’re certainly not chasing silverware next year. He’s 35 ffs.
Couldn’t agree more. It’s time for a big physical presence…..that ain’t Goldy. Unlikely to be Xerri either. But may as well have a crack at finding out.

Have heard North have cooled in trading for Harley despite his preference to stay in Victoria especially now with the 3 year contract stipulation for first round picks coming in. North have been turned off by West Coasts demands for pick 1. Have also heard North not keen on Curtin having McKercher Duursma Caddy and Watson all ahead of him.
Not a fan of Duursma falling at picks 2 or 3 for us.

No ………just talk that we can’t prelist him and it’d be a reach that high.

Sanders, Curtain, Watson, Duursma, Osullivan, Caddy...

... there's more than enough posts on the forum suggesting all of the above are reaching at 2 & 3.

I think the only unanimous locks are Reid & Mckercher.
