Hopefully we are throwing everything at this pick.
We have to, it's the most important move we will make this off season.

He needs more than a hugCan someone give Tops a hug please.
And so he should, they named an AFL medal after himLet’s change the subject. I know this is the wrong Thread, but gee Coleman has been very good tonight.
I appreciate your concern. At least I am not a magpie, lions, blues, gws supporter! He needs more than a hug
He's only been doing the trading/FA for two years. Not sure how you can say he has been a bust on that given he got in Lynch (trade), Amon (FA), Meek (Trade), Stephens (Trade) and Weddle (Trade)Sleepy mark has been excellent with draft picks on the main
With trading and attracting free agents asleep at the wheel
If that's the case there's no point leaving GCS. Practically going to be in the same position just in a better club. Shouldn't get fooled by being traded to a contender. How did it work out for Grundy? You go where your going to get regular game time I would have thought but what do I know?.He is headed to brissie
It's the only reason he would choose the Lions. Location. He would be behind Daniher and Nadal at Brisbane. Almost a worse situation to what he’s in now.
If he wants opportunity it’s Hawthorn, if he wants to stay in QLD, it’s Brisbane
Well than the way I see it is he's clogging up a spot on the list if that's the mindset. I get the sentimentality around it all don't get me wrong. He's on $400k. Staying near family/friends on that wage may be more important to him than being a 1st team regular.
Don't hold me to this but Sam IMO is prepared to take 2 steps back in 2 years time if we're no closer to a flag. Hence the 1 year deals for certain players and happy to let Kosi go and delist guys like Serong. Seems pretty ruthless in how he wants to go about it so I would suggest we need to be prepared for a slower progression than we may envisage.Hawthorn offering McKay a long-term contract, whilst not offering one to Blanck is not in anyway suggestive of his ceiling.
In most cases, it’s poor list management to offer a player early in their career long term contracts. For example, a few years ago (I believe 2020) Will Day secured a two year extension, despite him having the most potential of anyone on the list.
For clarity, I do not believe Blanck will ever reach a similar level to Will Day - but he could prove to be an above average key defender at AFL level. We have seen similar such players in premiership sides over the past few years.
There are multiple reasons not to offer early career players long term contracts, including but not limited to: (1) a player not developing as hoped; and (2) shorter contracts provide players (particularly those early on) with greater incentive to improve.
As I said before, we do not know if Blanck is the long-term answer to play FB but he could be. The Club is seeking out alternative options because it is an area where we have limited coverage and because you cannot put all your eggs in one basket.
Wrong mindset though isn't it?. Good enough to be on a list but not really arsed if your career doesn't go anywhere. You don't reward these types of players IMO even if there good clubman so to speak. A level of professionalism is needed at some point otherwise why are you bothering?.There are plenty of question marks over his work ethic so perhaps for him it's not all about getting senior games but just simply doing enough to play football and get a pay check while staying close to family? If this is the case and Brisbane offer a similar contract in terms of money/years then it's a no brainer for him to go the Lions.
Sure he may end up off an AFL list at the end of his next contract but considering he's 26 and has been on pretty good coin so far in his career is it really the end of the world for him?
Not holding you for it but absolutely NO! Awful idea .Don't hold me to this but Sam IMO is prepared to take 2 steps back in 2 years time if we're no closer to a flag. I wonder, if the giants would accept it, if, with your permission SYL we could at least offer Strapping Young Lad's left testicle to see if they might be swayed by it. I mean I know it's not like for like Taylor being a key Defender and imagine your left nut as being more of a classy forward mid in the mould of Toby Greene but I don't think we have anything to lose at this point (well maybe with the exception of SYL)So would I.
Designed to put a rocket amongst the group to unleash their potential. Worst case scenario is 2 steps back. Not holding you for it but absolutely NO! Awful idea .
I’ll be honest. My left testicle is no good to anyone. Still in working order, but more trouble than it’s worth.I wonder, if the giants would accept it, if, with your permission SYL we could at least offer Strapping Young Lad's left testicle to see if they might be swayed by it. For Taylor, I think it's only fair we offer both testicles. SYL already has like 3 or 4 kids, he doesn't need them anymore anyway!I wonder, if the giants would accept it, if, with your permission SYL we could at least offer Strapping Young Lad's left testicle to see if they might be swayed by it. Letting Kosi go and getting something back is understandable, he's been treading water for two years and not getting the best out of himself.Don't hold me to this but Sam IMO is prepared to take 2 steps back in 2 years time if we're no closer to a flag. They’ll probably want a future testicle for next year as well. For Taylor, I think it's only fair we offer both testicles. SYL already has like 3 or 4 kids, he doesn't need them anymore anyway!
My nuts….are fluid.Did we have it confirmed yet whether Breust and SYL's nut are on the trade table, or is it just speculation at this point?
My nuts….are fluid.
Sam already started this process when he trade Mitchell and Omeara out.Don't hold me to this but Sam IMO is prepared to take 2 steps back in 2 years time if we're no closer to a flag. Blight looks good. Big unitHave been bullish on Jacob Blight all year. Would be a great get. 195cm and 95 kg. Attacks the contest hard aswell. Got some mongrel in him like Sam Taylor. Got another 19 possessions and 9 marks last week in the prelim final.
Sure is, would only get bigger and faster in a AFL system. Plays in the WAFL grand final tomorrow if anyone wants to check it out.Blight looks good. Big unit
Why hulking Peel recruit feels twice the player he was
The season hadn’t even started when Jacob Blight knew his move to Peel Thunder was a good one.thewest.com.au
